Shaking grains
    #7649906 - 11/18/07 02:03 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

First time doing grains, couldn't find an answer through search but... Is it recommended to shake grains immediately after inoculating?

Shake jars immediately out of the pressure cooker and right before inoculation to make sure moisture content is evenly distributed and grains aren't sticking together.

Do not shake right after inoculating, as acommunistspy explains.

Shake around 15-20% to make sure growth throughout the jar is even. Never shake more than once during colonization. This just slows things down.

Shake jars right before spawning to break the grains completely apart and provide the maximum number of inoculation points for your substrate.
