“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Those who think/know ignorance is bliss usually are smart, philosophical people. while those who hate ignorance are of lesser intelligence.

I have entertained this thought myself.

There is also another axiom which is equally true: Ignorance is no excuse of the law.

In a Nation which (lip-service to the contrary) continues to 'exponentially' spend more than it makes, and buy more than it sells; people are living high of the hog. But like the boys on Pleasure Island at the beginning of "Pinocchio", a day of reckoning will come!

But relax, there is nothing to worry about. We have only sold about half of our stocks and bonds, and all of our technology, in the last 26 years to pay for it. Lots of time left - party on!

the first time i ever tripped i felt like a baby. So wide eyed and full of wonder. from that point on i realized that i had stumbled upon something amazing. and now i wish i could go back to the source, and erase my head.

yeah it's one of those two sided things. Im happy with all the growth ive made but in moving forward i expose truth to myself, and no one wants to always here and see the truth. The truth is a dark and scary thing.

I'm not so sure that the truth is "dark and scary" so much as we have been keep in ignorance by our cultural programs that seek order and fear death. So chaos and impermanence seem threatening.

QFT. It makes the journey a tad bit more frightful.

Yes, it is horrifying! The entire country is high on debt - the most addictive drug of them all.

Hate is a bit strong. Lets say that I have a magnificent abhorrence of all ignorance except my own.

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is like the thorn in the lions foot. And it will catch up to you.
