Mushrooms / Insight / Personal Change...

Hello everyone,
I'm really interested in "psycholytic psychotherapy," the type of insight therapy done under the influence of various psychedelics. I'm also interested in people who use mushrooms regularly for insight work or spiritual practice. I've not tried them yet, but have heard a lot about them being powerful agents in people's lives.
So would anyone share their experiences with mushrooms as related to how the experience has informed positive changes or useful insight in their lives? Did you learn something on a trip that changed your life, and if so, what did you learn and how did it change your life?
Thanks!

they make you think outside the box, which makes you think different from everyone else, which makes you a lunatic....but the crazy thing is you'd be even stranger if you were normal...

I'm sure a quick browse in to the "trip report" section would help you out...a lot
From personal experiences, I've learned that we're constantly being watched by "other" things. Not sure what.
I've learned that you'll find things in places you didn't think of: such as finding gorillas in the carpet.
Life has a flow, up and down it goes, and there's nothing you can do about it except to accept it and enjoy it.
Also, I've learned to question why such a delicate, natural growing, piece of material could possibly be illegal.
So much more. Words cannot explain.

One thing that has always interested me was that tripping really got me into art. Before tripping, my life revolved around math and science, and I had a negative view of the arts (music, drawing, all). I became very interested in self-expression and paid more attention to people, especially when they put time into a presentation, no matter how crappy it looks at first.
I noticed that mushrooms seem to have a bigger impact on people who are withdrawn and negative, but that they aren't an antidote for depression or other things. The subject has to study them and understand the psychedelic experience (which unfortuantely is ineffable), and must introspect before and afterwards, else it's very easy to brush the experience off as just being induced by a drug and therefore worthless in every way.
In other words, the subject has to WANT insights to begin with. Those coming in with the attitude that ALL religions no matter what are 100% stupid and wrong, and all drugs no matter what are 100% useless and just cause you to day dream, etc, tend to not gain much from any drug (nor anything else in life).
The first time I tripped (mushrooms) was one of the most significant experiences in my life. Just becoming aware of what the brain was capable of resulted in a radical shift in my perception on life, philosophy, religion and so forth. I found them especially insightful when taken in small doses and with me doing what I normally do. For example, going to class, reading in the park, exercising, etc. This allowed me to pick up things I normally missed when sober.
I know you're looking for concrete examples, but it's hard to describe the insights you get from psychedelics. They are like the insights you get when somebody close to you dies, or when you win/lose something, or when you fall in love, or lose your virginity.

i dont know if its the fact that i havent ever taken enough .... or i just have some kind of tolerance but every time ive tripped i get a distortion of reality and sometimes a "losing" of myself but... i never really have anything else past that... and bubbling objects and such worried that it might be because i go into the experience searching for something...

Nicely put, it all depends on who's point of view it's coming from. Squares will think you're a crazy, but we all know that their minds are just inferior.
