The Lineage of Shroomhunters....

Great day!
I slammed on my brakes, as I'm one to do... at a certain point in my travels today, causing my 8-year old daughter in the back seat to say, "What is it daddy? Mushrooms?"
"Yes," I said, " My shroom-dar went off."
She didn't laugh. Or sigh incredulously. She hopped out of the car, before I could - and ran into this strange park-like setting we'd been driving past. She said, " Yeah. They're here." I said, "But they're sleepy." She turned and looked at me... wide eyed. "EXACTLY!", she exclaimed.
I was struck dumb by this reaction. I didn't even really expect her to hear me, let alone understand what I meant... even less - to be shocked that someone else could feel that phenomenon.
***(True shoomhunters know what I'm talking about... sleepy time of the season... shrooms are still around, but growing slowly)
So... there we are walking through this totally leaf-strewn place... a couple of naemataloma and a few psatherrella mushrooms still clinging to existence. But the -shroom-dar is pinging HIGH! I scan... and scan... and nothing. "too many old, wet leaves on ground.... damn..." I thought. then: My daughter approaches me. Holding a single, healthy, Psilocybe cyanescens.
My grin could have been seen from space.
More so, when she took me to the place where she'd found it. A cast, uninspired swath of rotting leaves, looking exactly like the diminuative cap of the mushroom she'd presented me.
"Right here." She answered my querry. "Right where?" I said. She bent down and brushed away some leaves. I followed suit - only to find myslelf plunging my fingers into an old, wet pile of dog feces. She pulls up another, older mushroom specimin and holds it infront of me. I laugh - clearly I wasn't supposed to touch these mushrooms. These were hers. Her first find. She's EIGHT. And she found these in two inches of perfect camouflage. " Are these magic mushrooms?" She asked, matter-of-mactly. "Yes." I answered. She nodded her head and tossed the mushrooms to the ground. She dusted off her hands and walked on down the path. I stood, dumbstruck. A few moments passed, and I heard her ask, "Why are those illegal?" She bent down and put her finger on a funky little polyplore attached to an old log. "And this isn't?"
A conversation for another day, perhaps. But....
I'm pleased to anounce that my babe... my first born... the one who I was walking in her stroller when I found my first magic mushroom in 1999 - has the gift ( or is it curse? ) of the shroomhunter.
Best part about it... : We got home and she casually told my wife. (a non-shroomhunter) that she'd found 'magic mushrooms'. And my wife... my friend... smiled as broadly as I did.
Hey Shroomery! I have the best family in the world! Just wanted you to know.
Watch out for this girl! She's gonna find your favorite patches in years to come!!!

And here's what she found... MIND YOU... this is AFTER the area's been cleared of two inches of fallen leaves.

PROUD POPPA!

You have a very bright and intuitive daughter, I'm sure you're very proud. I hope that she waits until the right time to indulge in these findings though, which I'm sure you'll make sure of.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

ohh i remember something , the indians said, that mushrooms are gathered by a virgin in the forest, and they are took to the church to bless then and then to the person that is going to consume then , that is the only way normal people can see the mushrooms spirit and ask what they want and find a cure, just to point out ,how special your doughter is , maria sabina was very little when she try mushrooms and she say they speak to her , she was hungry and ate like 50 derrumbes , well the mushrooms spirit took her spirit and make it one with her, all my best vibration ..
