These first two ones are fine. Yes I know there's some funk going on in the metal bowl, had some blueish overlay, sprayed with some H202 and it turned a bit nasty, but shit's still growing ok. Harvested the fruits from that other cake, they must have gotten a bit of H2o2 on them and some started to go black! Oh by the way the metal bowl one is around three quarts of rye that smelled like apples.. I know I should have ditched it, but before I took off for a few days I threw it in the bowl and cased it for shits and giggles..

This cake started out with a little bit of green on the top and side in the corner there, after a little spray it went nasty! Should I harvest these right away?? Not sure if it's going to spread and ruin the whole cake? Would anyone suggest cutting part of the cake away? Or harvest and then dunk in H202 mixture?

And are these more like Mazatapecs of Treasure Coast? Yes, I've begun to label my grows since this one. last night ate some from the first flush of that moldy verm cased cake, very very nice.

Ouch. Looks like Trichoderma to me. Evil green mold is immortal. Nothing kills it. H2O2 is ineffective, so is bleach. The rest of the cake is likely already covered in spores, it spreads like crazy. You can ride out the remainder of the flush to see what you'll get but this will only get worse. The longer it's around the more spores it'll put into the air to contaminate other cakes/casings and potentially future projects.
My advice would be to dispose of it as carefully and soon as possible.
FYI, covering it in salt might slow it down, but there's no effective way of stopping it. Salt might help you make the most of this flush.

You can, however, salvage any fruits on it. I wouldn't pick the ones with mold growing on it (if it's on the base of one, you could cut that part off) but the ones growing around it are fine to pick. I'd harvest them off and get rid of whatever is contamed asap.

I don't see any mold on those substrates. It just looks like damage from being waterlogged. Never set substrates directly on the perlite. You also need to increase air exchange. That's why you're getting the long stems and small caps. RR

THanks very much for those tips Roger, I'll make those changes asap.
I thought the skinny stems were because of the substrate type, glad I'm wrong.
Here's an update:

I know it might be hard to tell, but wondering if anybody can distinguish TC from Mazatapec in any of these pictures. Wouldn't mind getting a print of Maza as I don't have any, but need to get the right one, if there's some there heheh.
Going to make an order in a moment for some Cambodian, Koh Samui, and Orissa. Can't wait till they get here!
Also got my first straw & coir substrates colonizing & casing at the moment. lots going on.

First post but I felt if anyone was looking it might be relevant...isn't it a bit overkill to put a tray with casing into a FC with a perlite like function? Couldn't that be the sole cause of the green... since the casing itself should be the sole water source, the perlite-stuff should have been omitted at least for the little bowl/tray right?

No. The perlite is for humidity and the casing layer is to hydrate the substrate and supply moisture for the flush. RR
