Thinking about death

Anyone else have an unhealthy obsession with worrying about death? I fucking hate it. Usualy it happens real late at night when I'm up by myself getting stoned and I'll just catch myself thinking about it. It's not always my own death that I think about its also worrying about how devastating it will be when my parents die. It sometimes effects my everday life negatively and I have no idea how to stop it.

The only parent I really ever had was my father, it was pretty devastating to me, but it's been 2 years since he died now and I'm doing fine with it.
But before that, I would often wondering like you do, that's all gone now. I don't know what changed but I don't worry about death anymore.

I'm in the exact same boat as you man. I wouldn't say it's unhealthy though, it's perfectly normal but it does worry me a ton when it does come up. I already lost my mom when I was 17 and I'm having a hard enough time establishing myself. I can only imagine how it'll all go down the hole should my dad suffer the same fate.

Death is inevitable man.. it happens to everyone.. are you fearing death? or the process of dying (pain, loss, etc.)? If you can find meaning in the life of yourself and others, it may help you cope with the idea of death. Hopefully this helps

Everyone dies, life goes on. I guess the easiest way to overcome your fear is to determine why you're worried about it. Do you believe in an after life, like a fear of going to Hell? Are you more worried about the repercussions your death will have in your circle of family and friends? Also, if you're anticipating devastation when your parents die, maybe it would be a good idea (if you haven't already) to talk openly with them about this kind of thing, share your feelings with them, etc. so that when they die, there will be nothing left unsaid, and hopefully nothing you regret. Unless they're in poor health, or you're forty something, you've probably got a lot of time before either of you die anyways.
If that doesn't work, maybe you could take up meditation - clear your mind.

Yeah its not an every day worry but I'd say I do worry about that kind of thing somewhat often.
But whats weird is lately (the past week or two) I've had this really weird feeling like I'm going to die soon. Its hard to explain. Just like a feeling inside me that says I'm not gunna be around much longer... Kinda creepy...

I think part of it has to do with I was a real stupid teenager always doing drugs and giving my parents a hard time so I feel guilty about what Ive put them through.

SOmetimes I think about siblings or family members dying, and try to shoo away the thought as fast as possible...just seems weird to think about it. Dunno. Me myself dying I am more ready for than dealing with a family member, especially considering no close family members have died yet. It'll be a very sad day when that day comes.
These thoughts are what makes it impossible for me to get angry at a close one, it's not worth wasting the precious time with fighting or anger. Just love.
If these thoughts affect you every day...well...I dunno what to say...except...it's a waste of time to obsess over these things. Just live life as it comes, dudeskee

Recently, yeah. My childhood has been getting 100% destroyed in the last few years, and the last/greatest part of it is probably going to go very soon. I don't know if he's just acting like he's dying for attention, or if it's real but it has the same effect either way.

im so happy someone made this post. I think about death and dying so much that it's kind of ridiculous. It's only b/c i figured out a lot of the minor questions in my life and that's the one that has no answer. It worries me a lot, mushrooms have helped it but only temporarily. I always think about my dad dying and i check on him a lot to make sure he's still alive. Ive always been like this and never understood what happened to me as a child to bring this on. I just cant wait for the day that i can Truly accept death.

This actually happens to me alot as well. It's weird because it just crosses my mind at the oddest moments and there's really no reason to think about it. I'm just worried how I'd react if someone close to me died because it never really happened before.

the trip is the thinking about the moment that you slip into death. the last moments of life that transition into death...this moment that you will one day face. it's unavoidable and it is real.
yeah, sometimes my stomach drops and i get a mini anxiety attack, but i drop it and think of something else. other times i just think 'yep, it'll happen and then it'll be over and then...well, then its over so it won't matter anymore, big deal.'
fucking death
