Is this any good to spawn to?

I was at Lowes to get some peat moss and found some organic compost. The organic compost ingredients were: Forest compost and barnyard compost.
I'm assuming that since it's composted it would work well but I don't have the time or money to experiment.
Any suggestions or comments?

I saw that at a Lowe's too but went with composted cow manure instead. Hell it was only .58 cents for a 40Lbs bag!!
Other than having to pull out a lot of big ass sticks it seems alright.

Did the composted cow manure work well? Was it the same brand of the organic compost?

actually I just loaded up some bags with it(plus extras) and will be knocking them up with LC tonight after work so time will tell. I'm also planning to try to spawn some crumbled cakes to it next week so I'll let you know.
Sorry i couldn't be of more help at this moment though.
I'm not sure but Yes the bags looked similar if it's what i'm thinking about. It's a white bag with brown writing on it. I think the organic bag was white with blue writing? maybe black? they all looked very similar - kinda mid-western design or native american feel to the designs on the outside I think?
I'll look when i get home and describe it better.
Oh yeah and the only reason it was .58 cents is because the bag was torn! it was originally like $1.16!

you REALLY shouldn't directly inoculate bulk manure, you should spawn it.
I really dont see any success with your method.
they should list "Ammonia" as the number one ingredient, even though they don't, it reeeeeks of ammonia, that shit from home depot.

Absolutely. Have been down this road. Get some coir if you can't find some mushroom compost. Amend the coir w/ a little blood meal and you got a poo substitute that the mycelium will really run through. Still as Jeetered said, IMO spawning over inoculation is the clear winner.

I didn't smell any ammonia but I figured it was probably too good to be true. It wouldn't work in a filter patch bag? Or is the ammonia just too overpowering? If so, can't leaching help with this?
I should just get hpoo.

Thank you for telling me by the way; before I waited around for three weeks to find failure! I truly appreciate it!

If it's composted it should be fine, But I'm not 100% on that

Composted cow manure in bags works fine. Lay it out on a tarp for a few days to flash off the ammonia. It will help to mix it with about 1/3 vermiculite as both a moisture reservoir and to keep it from clumping. RR
