ID Request
    #7644538 - 11/16/07 02:40 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Went out for a hunt today in the rain for 2 hours and found a little oyster, and then these guys as I am almost back home. If anyone needs better pics I can go take more, there were quite a few growing, I only took one. If these are edible I'll go take my share  they smell pretty tasty.

Habitat: Wild grass, around some conifers.
Gills: Yellow, Sponge-like, I'm not sure what it's called... not "normal" gills.
Stem: White/yellow. The ring is reddish.
Cap: Brown
Spore print: I'm guessing yellow. I'll set it up if needed.
Bruising: None observed.
Location: Idaho

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus.
All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the
octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV.
But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns.
Also he got a race car.
Is any of this getting through to you?

Cool, how did they taste?

I ate Suillus for the first time last week, it wasn't good or bad.

You probably want to remove the slime from the cap and the pores in older ones.

Theyre still on my kitchen counter

Yeah I just read that, I'm gonna go remove the pores and slime/skin from the caps. Then I'll be back to look over recipes and check for replies.
