Cyans in Sacramento? In my Backyard!!!
    #7644406 - 11/16/07 02:07 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

So this morning I'm in my backyard praying for rain. Out of nowhere these guys catch my eye. Pure white stems. Wavy caps. They are very dry. I can't seem to produce a clean spore print although you can see dark spore printings on the top of some of the caps. No noticeable bruising but like I said they are extremely dry and brittle. Are these cyans?

San Pedro is watching over them.

Due to the clustered habitat near wood and lack of bruising I am pretty sure these are Psathyrella.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Most likely. Or possibly Stropharia, though Psathyrella looks right on.

just chiming in....I can't explain exactly why, but those are definately not cyanescens or actives.

notice the gills are white/lighter in color on the interior of the gill

color of the cap is too yellow anyway....close, but not it

Stropharia doesn't grow in clusters like that.

Hmmm... I see what you're saying.  Though I've seen them come damn close, like these S. ambigua come pretty close.

From today:

I'll try and get a better example next time I'm out.  I tend to pass by them, because they are so prolific.  But these were monstrous.

But yeah, as I said, most likely Psathyrella:wink:
