Thx . I stumbled upon this site noticing all of the posts about datura.... What an interesting plant it is.
Time to work on my profile I suppose.
I will probably have some random babbling thoughts and instructions on unusal ayahausca preparations and DMT next time I post.
EDIT: *Grins* I love this site, think I'll stick around

gday id just finished slaving out a post on datura,'moonflower' trying to find out wtf it was actually about, as i just couldnt find anyone or anything that related even a relatively close experience to mine, hence i wasnt sure of any info i could find. now i have something to go on.... and now i wonder about the methods used for taking the stuff... i noticed many warning notices about how you take datura. i discovered datura as a long white bell-shaped flower and always done the same thing: boil around ten(i should think never go higher than this) flowers in a large pot of water for(i do a few hours) as long as you like, its just more or less potent. now 500ml(for consistency try a oouple cones, No More or you Will Be Semi Paralyzed with Jelly Legs And Almost Without Audible Speech) will fuck you. exp. reminds me how valued a likeminded companion is. lasts several hours, Dont Go To Sleep - Risky. yeah datura is a fucked drug but drinking its tea has given me(assumably) as much potency as one normally would care for and has never put me in an actual dangerous situation, ive been able to use it privately a couple times. wouldnt mind some flashback stories if theres any to share

Which plant is the shrub with trumpets and spiky nuts? I know where one of those are but I've never wanted to try datura except smoke a tiny amount with some weed.

One of the worst experiences of my life was when a friend and I made a decoction of belladonna and drank shots of it. Within an hour we are paralyzed. We had just managed to lay down in an alley where we were barely able to groan for eight hours until as the sun rose we used force of will to get up because we didn't want to get busted. It taught me that some drugs are really really not fun, nor spiritual.
This is the truth. If you have gone beyond the societal norm of understanding through drug use you will be deemed insane and put away.
Take that one to heart.

Well, that's nice to know. I suppose then it could simply be that being half-drunk helps mask the side effects

A friend and I made a tincture out of some datura seeds and poured it into our History teachers eyedrops; which he kept in his desk drawer. It wasn't a potent mix, just strong enough to dilate his pupils for about a week. Ah..the magnificent 90's...

i did datura alot. i enjoyed the low dose trips till i started getting a feeling of my brain being on fire every time i smoked it.
all in all though datura has SO MANY negative side effects, and with the potential of their always being an overdose and so on.
its just not worth it guys, don't let this post sway you.

I have tons of Datura growing & have for years. Only recently found out about ppl using it for anything other than ornamental purposes. I dried some leaves yesterday & smoked them last night with some weed. I noticed I was higher, more lethargic & I had these rice crispy sounds & feelings in my brain. I slept real good though. For those of you who do not know my avatar is a Datura

Welcome to the Shroomery.
I like your post, and I'm no authority dictating what people should or shouldn't use, but I can't recommend substances containing anticholinergic alkaloids. The reports are entertaining, the plants are beautiful, and the effects of the drug seem very interesting, but Datura and friends go on my list of interesting-but-not-worth-it substances, alongside PCP, some RCs and (to a lesser extent) benzos.
I know Datura (and PCP, and etc) have a bad rep, have benefits, and may be used responsibly by some, but I'm not convinced that they are healthy in the long run. It doesn't mean I wouldn't try them, but they aren't something I seek or feel excited about. If I ever try them, I would make sure of the purity, dose, short/long term effects, etc, and have a sober sitter or two. Precautions that most people trying any substance will likely not take.
Non-psychedelics, especially those that cause amnesia, just aren't worth it IMO. They are more entertaining than educational, and are risky for you and people around you. Though they can be philosophical and give you an insight on how the/your brain works, I see them as being more fuck-me-up than anything else.

DON'T DO DATURA!
It's not fun. It's not enlightening. It's hell for your friends to have to deal with for the day/night.
The night we discovered a datura plant was a bad night. Ended with one in jail, another hospitalized and 10 of my friends mind fucked for days.
I urge caution when approaching this chemical.

The point of this thread is exactly that, to tell people they can have a pleasant trip on datura if you have the proper set-up and go with a very low dose. I guess it wasn't your case.
