top 10 trip songs
    #764163 - 07/21/02 08:33 AM (21 years, 10 months ago)

I know this has been done a thousand times on a thousand forums but what the fuck! My favorite 10 songs to listen to while tripping are (in no particular order):

  • Within You, Without You - the Beatles
  • Brain Damage - Pink Floyd
  • White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
  • Castles Made of Sand/Purple Haze - Hendrix
  • Alone Again Or - Love
  • Pictures of Matchstick Men - Status Quo
  • Dazed and Confused - Led Zep
  • Tales of Brave Ulysses - Cream
  • Santana - Toussaint L'Overture
  • the End - the Doors (only for experienced trippers)

What do y'all think? I could have listed a hundred more but this is supposed to be a top ten.

Actually the cd collection "Spirit of the '60s" is probably the best collection for tripping.

Ok everyone always talks about Aphex Twin. I even went to my local music store to buy some but they had none. What is it like?

If your interested in Aphex twin I suggest that you download some mp3's off kazaa or limewire. Personaly I like thier Selected ambient works volume 1 and 2. Especially 2. Much of there newer stuff is a hyperactive mindfuck. Speedy and abstact also a bit disturbing. However the ambient works are much different. They are more like dreamy soundscapes. So Aphex is a mixed bag for me some of his work is brillant and some some sounds like just noise. Try a varienty before you decide if you like it or not.

Every song by Squarepusher is good, but here are the top ten from Squarepusher.

1.Tundra
2.Untitled (wap 115)
3.Beep Street
4.The Exploding Psyschology
5.My Red Hot Car
6.Bonville Occident

Wouldn't list songs but here are some of my fav music on a trip....

Peaking :
Heavy techno... love to blast Shiva Sidapu, Infected Mushroom, GMS, etc.
Am pretty new to techno..so would also invite some suggestions on the heavier and darker side..

Plateau :
Floyd, floyd, floyd, Cradle of Filth, Anathema, Maiden, and sometimes Doors.

Cheers!

Ummagumma (the entire live album) - Pink Floyd
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - Beatles
Tranceport (the album is that good) - Paul Oakenfold
Bitch's Brew (also an entire album) - Miles Davis (seriously give it a listen)
Pyramid Song - Radiohead (anything radiohead actually)
God Moving Over the Face of the Waters - Moby (albums Play and 18 are really good tripping)
Stellar - Incubus
All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix (he is a god)
Strawberry Fields Forever - Beatles
Wonderwall - Oasis
Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis
And many more i cannot think of presently...

-Marilyn Manson: Sweet Dreams
-Tool: No Quarter
-Tool: Third Eye
-Cherry Poppin Daddies: Dr. Bones
-Pink Floyd: Have a Cigar
-Alice in Chains: Brush Away
-Primus: American Dream
-Oysterhead: Mr. Oysterhead
-Jimi Hendrix: Who Knows?
-Led Zeppelin: Stairway to Heaven (greatest song ever written)

Pretty much anything by Zep, Floyd, Tool, AIC, Primus is kick ass. Manson's older stuff (pre-Mechanical Animal Shit) rocks with any drug.

i think that music is so complex that its hard to list songs so i think the top ten artist to listen to are...

~Led Zepplin
~The Doors
~Grateful Dead
~Pink Floyd
~Sublime
~pretty much any of the 60's type music
~Jerry Garcia and David Grisman (greatful dog)
~Bob Marley
~Bob Dylan
~Lynyrd Skynyrd

Some of these bands arent really trippy or anything but if you get emotion from certain songs or artist while your still in reality then chances are they are going to be amazing while your under mushrooms influence....

Aphex Twin is actually only one person called Richard D. James.

My favourite A.T albums are Selected Ambient Works volume 2 (although it can get quite scary) and I Care Because You Do.

All his music is amazing, also when tripping

same goes for anything by Boards Of Canada

Yes - Heart Of The Sunrise
Gorillaz - Gorillaz Faust
Incubus - Aqueous Transmission
Shpongle - Shpongleyes
DJ Shadow - Organ Donor (live on BBC)
Led Zeppelin - The Rain Song (I got two versions, one I downloaded, which is the one i like most, and the one I ripped from houses of the holy. Same name, different song)
Long Beach Dub Allstars - Astro Dub
Dylan - Blonde on blonde (album)

ahh damn I got more but I'm lazy.,. Thanks for all the songs & thank god for mp3s.....

Trance and big bass are bad ass to Roll to or shroom. Any thing with fast beats, punchy bass line, it feels like your mind works to the music because there is no words realy.

Just my opinion..

Melvins - Divorced
Butthole Surfers - Kuntz (May be a bit terrifying)
Radiohead - Everything in it's Right Place

11... I know, I can't narrow it down to 10

My favorite trip song is From a old band Fleetwoodmac-crimson and clover.

1) Werewolf - Holy Modal Rounders
2) Interstellar Overdrive - Pink Floyd
3 - 10) Anything by Eno from the 70's.

Sorry, I can't stand listing them all. To many decisions.

P.S. Whiskyclone, were in the heck did you get those trippy Gifs from. They are amazing...

TRIPPY ALBUMS [Re: Lizard_King12034]

I especially enjoy my music and even more tripping. I invested in some Bose Headphones, worth every penny. Heres 2 albums that are a must own for the shroomin population:

Massive Attack - 100th Window (Very spiritual Trip-Hop/Electronica)
Talking Heads - Naked (Total upbeat feel good vibe)
