I know this has been done a thousand times on a thousand forums but what the fuck! My favorite 10 songs to listen to while tripping are (in no particular order):

  • Within You, Without You - the Beatles
  • Brain Damage - Pink Floyd
  • White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
  • Castles Made of Sand/Purple Haze - Hendrix
  • Alone Again Or - Love
  • Pictures of Matchstick Men - Status Quo
  • Dazed and Confused - Led Zep
  • Tales of Brave Ulysses - Cream
  • Santana - Toussaint L'Overture
  • the End - the Doors (only for experienced trippers)


What do y'all think? I could have listed a hundred more but this is supposed to be a top ten.

If your interested in Aphex twin I suggest that you download some mp3's off kazaa or limewire. Personaly I like thier Selected ambient works volume 1 and 2. Especially 2. Much of there newer stuff is a hyperactive mindfuck. Speedy and abstact also a bit disturbing. However the ambient works are much different. They are more like dreamy soundscapes. So Aphex is a mixed bag for me some of his work is brillant and some some sounds like just noise. Try a varienty before you decide if you like it or not.

Wouldn't list songs but here are some of my fav music on a trip....

Peaking :
Heavy techno... love to blast Shiva Sidapu, Infected Mushroom, GMS, etc.
Am pretty new to techno..so would also invite some suggestions on the heavier and darker side..

Plateau :
Floyd, floyd, floyd, Cradle of Filth, Anathema, Maiden, and sometimes Doors.

Ummagumma (the entire live album) - Pink Floyd
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - Beatles
Tranceport (the album is that good) - Paul Oakenfold
Bitch's Brew (also an entire album) - Miles Davis (seriously give it a listen)
Pyramid Song - Radiohead (anything radiohead actually)
God Moving Over the Face of the Waters - Moby (albums Play and 18 are really good tripping)
Stellar - Incubus
All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix (he is a god)

~The Doors
~Grateful Dead
~Pink Floyd
~Sublime
~pretty much any of the 60's type music
~Jerry Garcia and David Grisman (greatful dog)
~Bob Marley
~Bob Dylan
~Lynyrd Skynyrd

Some of these bands arent really trippy or anything but if you get emotion from certain songs or artist while your still in reality then chances are they are going to be amazing while your under mushrooms influence....
