How long can you leave jars un-inoculated

Since the jars should be sterile it seems like the shelf life would be months. In your experiances how long have you left a PC'd jar before you inoculated it. I plan on stocking up on un-innoculted LC's, quart WBS, pint WBS and over bags of WBS. How long do you guys think these will last before the contam risk is too high?

I think waiting about 5 days to a week before inncoulating is a good practice because you can see whether it got sterelized or not.
i dont usually wait though.
im sure if it was sterelized well it could keep for at least a few weeks.

I've kept jars for as long as a month without any problems. Although it's always better to use ASAP, as long as there is a tyvek slip under the jar lid and tinfoil over the lid it should be fine. Some people even put coffee filters over the tinfoil but I find that unnecessary.

if you are just starting off .. its a good idea to leave one not knocked up . so you can see if your procedures are good to go .. and check for contams in the future

I have three jars that are months old that I am very sure are sterile. If they don't get contaminated would the moisture level in the jars be too low to colonize ?

if they are sealed in a way so the moisture doesn't leave then they are fine .. but thats in a perfect world .. chances are they lost a lot of moisture in that amount of time

I've always found it wise to use them somewhere within 2 weeks of sterilization. Indeed, moisture will always find its way out.

I've waited up to two weeks, but I wouldn't recommend more than 3-4 days..

Just out of curiosity if I injected them with a few cc's of distiled water do they have a chance at being revived. Since I have an extra spore syringe I think im going to try it anyways.I'm confident that it could work since last year I got a free syringe by rinsing my old syringe with distilled water and inoculating two more jars with the solution.

Sterilization is never a 100%. The goal when PC'ing is to kill enough mold spores that the mushroom spores have a better chance of colonizing the jars before the contaminates do. The longer you wait to inoculate, the greater the window of opportunity for the mold spores to begin growing and contaminate your jar. In short, its always best to use a jar ASAP. Although one could wait some time longer, I personally would never use a jar that had been sitting for a couple of days. Its really not worth the risk.
