okay... nothing seems to be happening (myco-bags)
    #763891 - 07/21/02 05:17 AM (21 years, 8 months ago)

i recieved my myco bags from sporeworks on july 10 and innoculated on the very same day with EQ.
it has been 11 days and there is not even the slightest sign of mycelium growth going on. i've kept my bags at around 84 degrees... there is water condensation going on in the bag... even seems that my cakes are drying out a little. from what i've read around here, 11 days is a tad too long to go without seeing mycelium growth. were my spores bad?... are these bags bunk?... what's the deal? and yes, i've emailed sporeworks... but they haven't replied to me yet. so... can anyone offer any info?

Try breaking up all the substrate really good (like 5 minutes straight of breaking up). Then pack the substrate down just a little bit. Wait another 5-10 days if nothing then, then something is probably wrong. Mine took a long time too. Good luck.

i broke the substrate up four days after i innoculated.... and i broke it up well...
so shouldn't i have seen at least a tiny amount of white fluffy stuff by now?... this is frustrating.

Did you shake the syringe well before innoculation?

yes. i shook the syringe. i read and re-read almost every post on this forum having to do with myco bags before i even touched them... so i did everything that i was supposed to do. what's the longest anyone has waited to see the first sign of mycelium growth? i don't recall seeing any posts saying that it took over 11 days...

If i was to have those Myco baggies i would first have around 6 1/2 jars already incubated and ready for the bags. seems like more then a few people have trouble birthing spores out of those bags. Maybe they dont have a good enough air exchange and the humidity builds to fast that could be 2 probs with them. I dont know because i have never used them befor. otherwise i could give a straight answer.
keep shrooming

I innoculated my myco-bag on July 12th. It is now the 24th and no change at all. The bag doesn't have any air in it yet either. I used Treasure Coast. I am beginning to worry a bit.
