plastic and pressure cookers

What grade of plastic, if any, is ok to pressure cook? There are a lot of containers at the store with a PP5 rating that would be great for some projects. Can that stand up to the heat of a pressure cooker? I don't want to waste my money to find out.
Thanks.

yes.
PP5 is polypropolyn, which can make it through the pc.
make sure all pieces are PP5 and you'll be fine.

Thanks dude. Really appreciate it.
I'm gonna pick up some containers and start some experiments. I have a couple teks I've been wanting to test some things with these cheap plastic containers for some time. Just never knew if they could hold up.
I think you can really improve on the pf tek using plastic containers, micropore tape, and a glove box.
I'll let you guys know what happens!

Keep in mind though that some of this plastic may warp in the PC depending on what it inside it. I made a BRF paste in place of agar once, and PC in a normal PP5 container that I had done a LC in before but the heat of the BRF paste warped the plastic to the point of opening up and making a huge mess. Liquid seems to do just fine, but obviously "paste" consistancy materials don't.
Just wanted to pass that on. BRF PCed for 30 minutes is hard to get out of a PC.

I stopped using glass for PF Tek long ago... These Ziploc short half pints and Glad 4oz tubs work wonders.... Haven't had any problems PC'ing them. But for cakes I usually just steam sterilize.
