Hey guys, just recently I have noticed a 'seaweed' like smell coming from my bucket o' fungus, does anyone know what this is?

if it doesn't smell like mushrooms then its a good chance its bacterial growth .

I agree,anything except for a good healthy mushroom smell usually spells doom.Keep a close eye on it and keep it away from any other projects you have going

three quick questions...
1. what type of substrate and spawn materials where used?
2. at what stage of growth is your "bucket" in? colonization (how many days) or fruiting (which flush)?
3. please describe what seaweed smells like to us and try to give at least two or three different comparisons. I have absolutely no clue what seaweed smells like so it's a bad reference point for me. Feel free to go all e.e. cummings in your description if you'd like, the more thorough the better. Hell, take a deep whiff right before you write it up.
Hunch says it's fermentation just based on the size and shape of the container, especially if the substrate was a compost or manure base and the spawn medium was a grain...
