Reccomend-a-Strain
    #7637098 - 11/14/07 07:45 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

I've been doing some research trying to find the perfect strain for my growing criteria. I was hoping you could help me pick out a strain. This will be my second grow. The first time I had 6 half pint PF jars of Amazonian cubes. This time I'll be using the PF Tek again, with 6 more half pint jars. I want a strain that has small but potent fruits and that is very easy to grow. I'm not that experienced so I want to play it safe. Also, this is an undercover grow so I cant leave them out in plain view or have them easily discovered.

I'm considering ordering one of the following strains (from RalphstersSpores);
Texas - Description says theyre sensetive to light so getting pins should be easy
Amazon - worked well the first time
Thai Pink Buffalo - I've heard good things, plus it has a cool name
Z Strain - Very fast colonizer and fruiter.. Less time = less risk
Golden Teacher - I like to learn.

Any input is appriciated, but please no lectures. Peace

How many grams did your 6 half pint jars yield?...

Have you tried B+? I have never grown... but i know people that have.. and almost all where using B+ strains...

I do not own a scale but I would estimate around 2 ounces dry from my first grow. I got about 3 solid flushes from 5 jars (one became contaminated).
And B+ grow too big for me to mess with. I gotta keep this grow on the down low.

Also, I wanted to know if you could put several colonized PF cakes into one big fruiting chamber, or if they should be kept seperate?

your growing criteria isn't any different than any other's by
your description.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7636970#Post7636970

with what you are doing, it makes about zero difference which strain
you pick.  why not just try like 5 different ones.

to find what works best in your criteria you'll need to get into
strain isolation.  the comments you read on the vendor websites
about each "strain" are not trustable.  There is no one race that
colonizes faster than the other.  There's no one race that drops
more spores than others, or is more prolific at pinning than others.
all that stuff simply is not true and cannot be proven.  it's a marketing
technique to try to get you to "collect them all."

if you want to try different races, then try things like PF Albino and
Penis Envy.  Or PF Redspore and Redboy.  Or PE6 and sporework's
Malabar.

The rest are going to be so similar you won't even be able to
tell the difference most times.  So yes, you can put multiple cakes
of multiple races ("strains") into the same fruiting chamber.
it won't hurt a thing.
