What is the best way to humidify a fruiting chamber? I was considering a fish tank airater in a cup of purifed water, any suggestions or personal experiences would be appreciated.

so, for that its just damp perlite under the fruiting cakes, right? any experiences in using both at once? how often should the perlite be redampened

I have a humidity question tambien. I read an article(in the Humid. technique section of the site) about how someone got 95% RH through a saturated Potassium dichromate solution. Coincidentally, I have a surplus of K2Cr2O7 and I'm wondering if anybody has actually had any luck with it.
OP start reading here--->And so I don't end up stealing this thread, Yea. Perlite is pretty much the best. If you want, you can get a few bubble wands and hook them up to the fish tank air pump and put them on the bottom, then layer the perlite over the wands.

About 2 in perilite in fc,put the cakes on something, foil, lids, anything that works. No experience using both, you wont need to with perilite.I supply the perilite with h2o about every month,or whenever i notice the humidity going down. And yes, just put the dampened perilite in the fc.

i thought drained perlite with mucho holes in the container was the best way as itll constantly be evaporating.

Usually when i open a fresh bag,i pour a little h2o on the perilite so the dust doesnt go everywhere. Then i just put in the fc,pour h2o down the corners of the fc,about 3/4 a cup in each corner. This has always worked for me,never had a problem with contams either.

How big of an fc are you using for that technique, 30 gal tupperware, or something else?

sorry, I hit the wrong key, I was considering a 10 gal tupperware, one inside of another, with a heating blanket in the outer one, any idea how much water would be needed for a 10 gal?

Heating blankets are a bad idea, fire hazard, and it can cook your fungi.10 gal. is about what i use, 3/4 cup in every corner,or more if needed.

do you recomend using water in the outer container with a fish tank heater, ie how do you heat your fc. also, whats the deal with the hydrogen pyroxide in the pearlite water, does that help in styrilization or something? why do the cakes like it?

i only use one container, have perlite that i soaked in a strainer on the bottom about 1 inch deeep. i then dump water mixed with hydrogen peroxide in and use a spray bottle to mist the sides of the FC before i put the cakes dirctly on the perlite and put the lid on. if you find the cakes get waterlogged or are getting very heavy from the water gain you can sit them on a lid. i have found it varies with lid use or not. ive also made little mounds in the perlite so the cake sits up a bit higher and find that method works well with no lid
