Ok seriously, is it really that awesome to live in Europe? like Spain or France or the UK? I've heard some rumours and maybe seen a few things on TV (ok micheal moore makes it look fucking awesome) and friends that have vacationed there for months at a time say they'd make the move, so can anyone confirm that moving to Europe would be a good idea? and does anyone know how hard it would be to do so?

Michael Moore films are always EXTREMELY bias as you and I and everyone well know by now.
However, socialized medicine is awesome, as well as the fact that people aren't nazi's about vacation time when you have a job.
Obviously though, different places in Europe will be different. Thats just common sense. Don't lump all of Europe together.

I've always been under the impression that it wasn't very easy for an American to get citizenship in any European country. I've heard fucking around with visas and shit can be a pain in the ass, too. Basically, Americans are like Mexicans to Europeans. They don't want us.
-------------------- "America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve." - Tom Morello

Honestly?
The grass is greener on the other side.
Having lived in the UK for my whole life, I would very happily trade places with you.

most people have european ancestry, that's how this country was founded.
but seriously - look into it, i'm hoping to move there as well after college - key word is hoping. it's complicated, but it's possible. remember that - anything is possible, just not probable

Are you wanting to renounce Canada totally and become a citizen of another nation? Or do you just want to be a legally documented worker living & working abroad? Both options will have their upshots and drawbacks.
You could just go, overstay your tourist visa... and find an employer who hires illegal aliens.

unless you are a refugee, a student, or somebody with very specialized job skills it is very difficult to get long-term residence in almost any european country (this is as a US citizen, might be different for a canadian). i lived in norway (2 years), denmark (almost 2 years), and sweden and france (for a few months each), and throughout that time traveled through most of western europe. like any place in the world, it is what you make of it. some great things, some not-so-great things; some great people, some not-so-great people; etc etc etc. you tend to be the greater deciding factor than your surroundings, ime.

I think our country should really change our motto, "for freedom"
but this country is better then a lot. I like the United States. I don't like the leaders, but I like the country itself.
Fascist? Do you know what fascism is? I suggest looking it up before you start calling the United States a fascist country.

i guess i'm being overdramatic, but there are fascist elements present in the country.
and yes, i do know what fascism is, i am deeply involved in a rigorous history major and have read way too many books devoted to fascism. don't assume i'm a moron just because i have hyperbolic tendencies. i think you'll find i'm quite knowledgeable when it comes to history, particularly the history of fascism, if you would take the time to find out.
i'm glad you like the United States. I can't stand the country itself. the people drive me wild with rage. I can't stand the pop culture either. the history of the country and the general mindset of the public truly sickens me.
but that's just my opinion. i would much rather like the place i live in... but i don't. i'm genuinely happy for you, really.
i've considered moving, but the visas/citizenships are impossible and i'm very young and relatively financially unstable. I wouldn't think of leaving the country with less than fifty grand, and that's a bare minimum.
maybe if i get into a good graduate program i might be able to escape.

Gosh I like you. It's true though - to a mainlander trying their hardest to get away from that - this is the closest to another country anyone from the U.s. will find - without a passport. Not that I am shooting for a huge influx of mainlanders either!

the worst part of the US is that theres this great illusion of freedom
id much rather be told we are all being brainwashed then being told we are all "free" to do what we want
its so much more sinister than blatant evil
its such a different country than what is was meant to be
thats the real tragedy

I think I'm just looking for a different way of life, something slower maybe, more benefits would be nice too, I don't mind paying higher taxes if I know everything is being taken care of in the long run, maybe stop working so hard for so little?
