damn i get so stoned and listen to this shit nonstop lately, its really grown on me
i deleted all the filler shit from Aenima and it is SOOOOOO DANK without it, its total perfection
and i deleted like 3 or 4 songs off Lateralus to make it perfect as well
i love undertow front to back, and im starting to love 10000 days (or songs on it atleast, half of it sucks IMO)
i think i love this band

Tool is definitely the most "intense" band I've ever really gotten into... I only started listening to them this year in preparation for Bonnaroo
Their music is amazingly complex, which is awesome. But I think what ultimately sold me on them was Maynard's lyrics + vocals... the lyrics are so good, especially on Lateralus, and the passion with which he expresses those lyrics is just powerful... no other way to put it really.
i also find their music inspiring in some odd way... something I never would've expected.

they aren't even songs really
ions is just electric sounds, mantra is like whale sounds, satan song is german guy yelling with machine sounds
other shitty songs include: blue apocalypse, disposition, faii opaid, and a lot of the songs on 10000 days
i probably got the names wrong ^^ but they are somethin like that

anyway, all of tool is fantastic. their ability to create new sounds just show how artistic and creative they are. i love all their albums! just give it a try and get lost in the sounds, trust me.

disposition? I like disposition
and what's with the 10,000 days hating?
Vicarious = Rocks
Jambi = Badass
Wings for Marie = pretty good intro to => 10,000 Days (Wings 2) = fucking beautiful
The Pot = good catchy toon... catchy for tool, but it's still a good fucking song.
Lipan Conjouring - Good song of you know think of it from an artistic standpoint... think of Ayahuasca/DMT brews that south american tribes used during religious rituals. As a song, I understand not liking it though... I don't listen to it often. Anyway, the DMT part is important because it leads to =>
Lost Keys -- which is a fantastic intro (Dr. Scene, perhaps inspired by the DMT research done in the book "The Spirit Molecule." He begins returning to normal consciousness after a (experimentally controlled?) DMT trip with the doctor asking him questions, and then comes the story =>
Rosetta Stoned. A stellar rock composition of epic proportions. It's essentially a story about a DMT trip.... I fucking love this song.
"You believe me don't you? Please believe what I've just said. See, the dead ain't touring and this wasn't all in my head. see they took me by the hand and invited me right in. then they showed me something. I don't even know where to begin.
Overwhelmed as one would be placed in my position... Such a heavy burden now to be the one Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending. to write it down for all the world to see. But I forgot my pen. Shit the bed again. Typical."
Intension - I didn't like it at first, but I really like it now. Chill for tool, but really puts me in a thoughtful state. I listen to it studying.
Right In Two - Also really good? The drum solo is fantastic... builds to a good climax.
Vigitini Tres or whatever... i admit, this song does suck. =/
Overall though I don't understand why some tool fans don't care for it =/

you'r saying the songs that suck are okay IMO
on 10000 days, the good songs are: vicarious, jambi, the pot, rosetta stoned, right in two, MAYBE intension)
everything else is just 'eh' in my opinion, but im comparing it to songs like the grudge, 46 & 2, lateralus, etc.

cool thanks for clearing that up

its not a poorly written song, its just slow and boring, i want the good heavy shit

Disposition on its own might seem boring, but it is meant to be played after Lateralus. It is nice to kind of come down from that intense ending of Lateralus with the chilled out Disposition. Then, things heat up again with Reflection. Great fuckin' album.

93 Tool has never made "filler". Even fuckin' lamc has special meanings(though that's the only tool song I'll ever skip) . I can see how some might not like them, thats okay. Personally, I love those little pieces. Eon blue apocalypse in particular is especially beautiful and leads up perfectly to the patient. Extremely visual, as are (-) ions, cesaro summability, lipan conjuring, and disposition(filler?? ). IMO, those little pockets of beauty are absolutely essential for those albums. 93 93/93

True, but its kinda part of that "epic" portion of the Lateralus CD... all the songs after Ticks & Leeches just kinda form one big song IMO... should try to listen to them all in order
Reflection-Triad is great, underated song(s) IMO...

Lipan Conjuring is amazing, I listened to that on a high dose Cube trip. HOLY SHIT. (-) Ions really put me out there as well. While I'm tripping Tool is an absolute MUST, I've found they really put me in the zone. And when I'm not Tool is an absolute must. They're are badass no matter how you look at it.

DRT were originally composed as one long 23 minute song. all of tool's filler tracks are just parts of the whole experience. to me, they are necessary.
i am just waiting for someone to go into the alternate track listning for Lateralus

Opiate is sick too. I love the 'hidden' ending to it as well. The Gaping Lotus Experience Lyrics
I had a friend once he took some acid Now he thinks he's a fire engine It's okay until he pisses on your lighter Kinda smells kinda cool kinda funny anyway
satan, satan, satan...
I had a friend once he took some ecstasy Tried to marry me and every one in the room He was sort of loving kinda caring, kinda tried to fuck my lazy boy It got a bit messy all over the curtains, arm chair covers, throw pillows, and carpeting
satan, satan, satan...
I'm getting bored again...

rosetta stoned is about an acid trip, not DMT. note the lyrics: "blotter got right on top of me" about halfway through.
Third Eye, on the other hand, IS about DMT.
Easy mistake to make.
TOOL kicks ass!

Heh... you could argue any which way I suppose. However, third eye seems to reference peyote (phosphorus desert buttons).

I'm pretty sure all the butter is to get the hash into a form that you can digest. I know when I make THC pills or brownies I ground my bud into a kief in a coffee grinder than add a little butter to the powder and a little extra light olive oil and work it in with a spoon. Makes the brownies/pills kick so much harder.
OH yeah ....AND NO EGGS!!!!

Actually, according to the official lyrics, the beginning of the song is
"Alrighty, then ... picture this if you will.
10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes"
The "blotter got right on top of me" is correct, also.

I think they are just pure butter cookies. Plus, the recipe asks for only a knife tip of hash.

I don't like tool, i have never been able to get into them. I have Aenima, Lateralus, 10,000 days, and Opiate on my computer but have never been able to listen to any of them all the way through. I just don't get it, change my mind.....

Listening to TOOL has the ability to keep you in the most desired positive state. Think for yourself, Question authority.
it's some kind of psychedelic experience.

Why delete the songs?
Artists intend their listeners to hear their album as a whole.....it's a piece of work....art.....it has a deeper meaning as ONE.
Especially tool......if you are deleting the songs.....and listening to the "hits"......you can proudly wear that tool shirt.....because you are just that....a tool......
Tool blew up and got so huge, and they aren't really that special......they know they aren't that special....that's why they named themselves tool....so all their fans will proudly say what they are.....
Lateralus as a whole is goddamn amazing....( especially if you rearrange the tracks, look the track listing up online, if you rearrange them and cut the first and last 2 seconds off it flows as one 74 minute song ).

i deleted the songs because they are shitty songs, i listen to tool for the instruments and awesome vocals
not sound effects

you delete songs Tool purposefully have made, whether sound effects or fillers or whatever they may be, and still call yourself a Tool fan?

Do this. Do you smoke weed? Or will you be dosing mushrooms any time soon? I hate to give power to a drug like this, but seriously, dose up on something psychedelic, turn off all the lights, put Lateralus or Aenima on a nice stereo or on an ipod/headphones (this would be the best imo, if you have good stereo headphones), and just let the album play throughout, don't stop it, try to treat the whole album as one experience.
I personally would recommend Lateralus, as there is so much depth to it in my opinion. Aenima is just as good, they are just different. Lateralus speaks more on a universal beauty whereas Aenima is more introspective scary...just my interpretation on the feel of them
So yeah, that's what I would do.

Tool albums aren't meant to be listened to one song at a time, you must listen to the entire album to get the full experience.
