Wow, pretty inept. Im sure she funneled a lot of information to Iran and Syria as well in her time working for the FBI, this has to be the worst breach of secrets since Pollard.

the government's investigation has uncovered no evidence so far that Prouty, who was employed by the CIA until last week, had compromised any undercover operations or passed along sensitive intelligence information to Hizbullah operatives.
until information is found to have been transferred, is it not misleading to call her a mole?

The fact that her husband visited Nasrallah, forged naturalization papers, and had family with ties to high level hizbollah members is to coincidental enough for her to be in such a sensitive position.
She could of compromised other field agent's security, who knows but I guarantee theirs going to be a giant investigation. Who knows how many other foreign agents are in positions of critical security.
She more then likely funneled FBI intelligence reports on domestic hizbollah fundraising "while checking on her relatives" To high members of Hizbollah alerting their operatives that the FBI possibly had files on them.

Good reason to bomb Hizbollah again.

I don't get how stuff like this happens. When I got a security clearance, it took ten months of background checks. I had to sit in a room taking an eight hour lie detector test. They interviewed my friends, my family, my teachers from elementary school, my friends friends, my families friends, the neighbors, etc. I had to sign over my medical records, my banking records, my right to any privacy at all. They even broke into my house while I was in an interview with them (at work) and searched it. Perhaps the FBI isn't as thorough in their checks as some other agencies.

No, my background check was done by the CIA, not the FBI. (and no, I didn't work for the CIA) I always assumed that the CIA did all background checks for federal jobs that involved classified material and that what I went through was fairly common. So much for assumptions...

How can they get away with that? Did they have a warrant or did you sign something giving them permission? Did they break down the door and cause damage or what?

They scheduled yet another interview with me at work, and while I was sitting there in the conference room waiting for them to show up, they snuck into my house. I lived in a rural area and the neighbors saw them and called me at work. I wouldn't have known about it had the neighbors not told me. I don't remember signing anything that gave them permission, but I had to sign away so many rights, I might have and not realized it. When you get a security clearance, in the US, you pretty much give away all your rights to privacy. I guess the FBI style checks aren't nearly as intrusive or things have changed a lot in the last 15 years.

She was an agent for the CIA and FBI.
http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/article3160628.ece
Quote:
Prouty, 37, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to using her security clearance to illegally access files on government computers about the Islamic terrorist group Hizbollah. She also confessed to fraudulently obtaining US citizenship through a sham marriage. After her wedding in 1990, Prouty worked as a waitress at Middle Eastern restaurants in Detroit, where she was recruited by the FBI in 1999. It is believed she was "talent spotted" to spy on the city's large Arab-American population. The FBI gave her full security clearance and then posted her to its Washington field office, which investigates crimes against US citizens overseas.
While there, she used her pass to gain access to restricted FBI computer files. According to court documents, she wanted to know if her sister and brother-in-law were being linked by the US to Hizbollah. In June 2003, she left the FBI to join the CIA as an undercover agent.
The FBI in its quest to get those rotten trrrists recruits a hizbollah mole to head its effort in finding hizbollah. Talent Spotted? Is this a new way of recruiting potentially dangerous foreign nationals just because they speak the fucking language or are apart of that culture. To me its evident how bad the FBI and CIA crave arabic speakers, at any cost of national security they recruit them.
Quote:
Prouty's early years in the US were spent working at a chain of restaurants called La Shish, owned by her brother-in-law Talal Khalil Chahine. He is on the run and believed be in Lebanon with Prouty's sister, Elfat El Aouer. They were charged with tax evasion last year over a plot to conceal more than $20m in La Shish's profits which was funnelled back to Lebanon.
Adding to the CIA and FBI's paranoia, the court papers reveal that in 2002 El Aouer and Chahine attended a fundraiser in Lebanon where the speakers included Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah, whom the US accuses of being a terrorist and Hizbollah's ideological leader.
haha, thats my favorite part, they funneled 20 million right under the fucking FBI's nose, what a goddamn joke and we expect these assholes to be protecting us? This is ineptitude at a gross level and its something this administration has come to represent.

You expect someone to protect you?
These people are on a different planet altogether. The illusion of security is their main weapon against its own people. Just do your best to maintain your own security and that of your families on a daily basis, and when these fuckholes run the whole mess into the ground, just pray it doesn't get too awful for your family and friends.
