Don't buy expensive heaters

I tried using a few different brands of ceramic heaters to heat my incubation closet and all of them bounced around 5 degrees. I put my cheap Lakewood brand non-ceramic heater bought from walmart for $14 and it is sensitive enough to only bounce around a single degree if that.
It seems the more expensive ceramic heaters try to stay on and off longer probably so their not so annoying turning on and off every minute, but by doing so they don't heat small spaces evenly.

I don't use any heaters, i just stagger the inoculation process on multiple bags so that it's not a waiting game. I just keep all my mycobags in a box in the closet...room temp. The way I see it is spend a few extra days waiting for intial colonization, and don't worry about the higher chance of contams due to heat.

i use a closet as an incubator, and my temp bounces around 8-9 degrees sometimes. its no big deal though. the shit still colonizes just fine.

best thing I ever did was get rid of the incubator.. Sure it takes longer to colonize, but no worries about a heater in the closet and less contams.

Who contams jars anymore? I dont remember the last time I had a jar turn on me, and I incubate LC innoced jars of rye gypsum at 87 degrees in about five to seven days total. Wait all you want i'll stick to incubation.
