I'd love to watch it, though I don't know if I'll be able to see it live
I kinda hope Hatton will rock Mayweather's face for about 6 rounds, then finish him off.

I'm pretty excited about this fight.
I just saw Ricky Hatton on the telly the other day, and he looked dangerous as fuck. I would be willing to bet money that he will beat Mayweather.

I want to see Mayweather bloodied and taken the distance but whin a split (or vice versa) so that there will have to be a re-match (which would probably lead to #)
There is SO little to be excited about when it comes to boxing, it makes me sad.:(

I think it's going to be a boring fight. Mayweather is not going to want to get hit, so he's going to be running around the ring.

I hate to agree with gema, but that is the way Mayweather does it. And I can't blame him. It is boxing and not brawling. That said,I think Hatton is going to push the action and push it hard. And if he can keep away from getting knocked out on a counter punch (seems like he has a pretty good chin AND a TON of determination) than maybe by the 6th round Floyd will have to open up and go at it. This fight has a chance to be an epic, or a snoozer, I can't see it being any other way. But Hatton will have to get ahead on the cards early and push Mayweather's corner into plan B for that to happen because I agree with you, he's not going to stand in front of a devastating puncher like Hatton.
And just to throw in, I wouldn't be surprised with all the covering that Mayweather will have to do to cover his body if his hands don't get at least tenderized or maybe hurt, and that could change everything.

I love ricky hatton, he is my boy, but I'm afraid to say he doesn't stand a chance against Floyd.
Hatton is going to push the action and that is EXACTLY what Mayweather wants him to do. Mayweather is faster and he will counter punch the shit out Hatton and fuck his face up pretty good.
Hatton's only chance is if Mayweather breaks his hand again in the fight. Then Hatton might win on points.
Mayweather probably won't be able to put hatton down, because lets face it, thats pretty much impossible to do. Hatton is a tough mother fucker and will never give up. He will be picked apart the entire time.
I predict Hatton will win the first 2 rounds and Mayweather will dominate the rest of the fight.
De La Hoya had a better shot at pulling off a win against the insanely skilled Mayweather.
Watch for Mayweather to block shots with his elbows and shoulders. You can't get a clean shot on Mayweather. His defense is probably the strongest out there next to Winky Wright.

there used to be a youtube HL on mayweather's and winky's boxing defense. Pretty incredibly clips to watch.
I like watching Floyd, despite his fights being boring, they're incredibly tactical.

I would like to see that!
The problem is most people don't really understand whats going on in a boxing match. Yes the idea is to knock the other guy out ultimately, but there is much more to it than that. Boxing is an intense chess match and suddle skills, like defense make the difference in a win and a loss.
I don't think Flyods fights are boring at all. Why? Because I'm an ex boxer and I marvel at his amazing skills. Watching him turn punches and use his elbows and shoulders to block shots and then watching his insane speed and unbelievable counter punching skills always blow my mind. I love to watch him fight, and his new persona as a "bad boy" is just to sale tickets. He has gone with out a big pay day for a long time and this new attitude he has cooked up is all for show and it works. People are now tuning in, in hopes of seeing him lose, instead of watching the amazing tactical show that is unfolding before their eyes.
I wish more people understood boxing and realize what skill it actually takes to succeed in the sport. It would be nice to have boxing make a come back. Unfortunately todays youth is too ignorant and uneducated in the manner of boxing. MMA is all the craze, because its simple and to the point.
Boxing 4 lyfe bitches.

Oh and also, Hatton supporters.. know this.. if you bring the fight to Mayweather in the middle of the ring then you stand no fucking chance in hell. Unfortunately, this is exactly what Hatton will try and do. He is a dead man walking.

Hatton's got the durability that alot of other hard-headed inside-fighters lack.
He's not going to overwhelm Floyd's speed or defense, but he can still make Floyd work.
If Hatton can score pts early, i think he'll be able to possibly deal with floyd's jabs to a win.
But of course I still favor Floyd in this fight....just sayin'.

The other major factor is politics. Big fights are relatively hard to come by in boxing. Contrast this to something like the UFC. In the UFC, the top fighters are in the ring at least twice a year, and many fight three times. When this is the case for all the fighters, you constantly produce, high quality fights. When was the last time a high-profile boxer fought three times in a year?
You are right about the general public not being able to pick up on the technical details. Ufortunately, you have to look at it from the "average" fans perspective. Look at De la Hoya-Mayweather and what did the average fan see? Mayweather backing up for 12 rounds while Oscar pressed the pace.

LOL everyone are Mayweather haters. Mayweathers new persona was invented to get more attention. For years he has been the best fighter around and went virtually unnoticed by non boxing fans, since most of his genius is highly technical. As soon as they made him into a bad guy, all of the sudden everyone wants to see him get beat and he is now selling more tickets than ever because of it.
I've seen Hatton come very close to losing against lesser boxers than Mayweather. I love Hatton and he is definitely one of my favorite boxers out there, but I just don't see him standing a chance in the ring with Mayweather.
I'm not really going for either one of the guys, because they are two of my favorite fighters, but if I was to place a bet on the fight I would take Mayweather all day long.
Hatton likes to bring the fight and push the pace, doing that against Mayweather is a very bad idea. If he can keep Mayweather out of the center of the ring he might have a shot. His best bet is to put Mayweather on the ropes and pound him.
MAN I CAN"T WAIT FOR THIS FIGHT!! I hope Hatton makes this interesting and I hope they beat the shit out of each other.

They didn't "invent a persona" for Mayweather they just told him to get in front of cameras and do whatever he wanted. He still had the bling, he still had the attitude, he just wasn't spouting it off everywhere because people still cared about boxing.

Yeah you might be right. The mayweather I remember 4 years ago, was a very good sportsman and he reminded me a whole lot of De La Hoya. He was always respectful and wasn't a big time smack talker. That has changed dramatically in the last 2 years.

Yeah that fight against Kostya Tszyu was awesome!!! It was when I realized that Hatton was the real deal. Kostya Tszyu owned that weight class forever until Hatton put him down.
In a all out brawl, I will take Hatton against just about anyone. In a boxing match though, he doesn't perform as well. The only better brawler is Manny Pacquiao. If you haven't seen Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales 2, then you are missing out on some amazing boxing.
Anyone that hasn't see Hatton in action, here is a streaming link to Castillo vs Hatton.
http://joox.net/cat/235/id/1347981
Here is a Floyd Mayweather against a very similar fighter in Calros Baldomire. Carlos isn't as fast as Hatton but has the same hard head and heart, and the desire to brawl.

Yeah, and Mayweather is taller, faster, and has a 7" reach advantage on Hatton. I expect him to dance around the ring making for a less exciting fight and win by decision. Don't get your hopes up and you won't be dissapointed is a good suggestion for this fight.
Having said that I hope Mayweather's ass goes down.

I only know of three on the undercard, at least two of which are ten rounders. Works out good for me though since that gives one of my friends time to get home from work and grab a beer before the main event. He works at a beer store so that works out good too.

By Kieran Mulvaney Fri Dec 7, 6:44 PM ET LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Champion Floyd Mayweather Jr tipped the scales right on the 147-pound limit on the eve of his WBC welterweight title fight with Britain's Ricky Hatton. Challenger Hatton was two pounds lighter at the weigh-in held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the site of Saturday's bout, in front of a crowd of 6,000 almost exclusively British fans.
The two fighters stood nose-to-nose after the weigh-in with Hatton waving the American away as he took the microphone to tell his fans: "What can I say for a turnout like that?"
Members of the raucous crowd, who sang soccer chants plus several renditions of "God Save the Queen" and "There's only one Ricky Hatton," had queued for up to five hours for a chance to catch a glimpse of the fighters on Friday.
The 16,800-seat arena sold out within 30 minutes of tickets going on sale for the fight in September and Internet resale sites are offering ringside seats for almost $13,000.
More than 10,000 British fans were expected to make the journey to watch the showdown at the arena or at one of several closed-circuit venues along the Las Vegas strip.
FAST PACE
Mayweather, who has a 38-0 record, is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world but Oscar De La Hoya, who was the last man to fight him, believes underdog Hatton, 43-0, has a strong chance of winning the fight.
"People are underestimating (Hatton's) speed and his footwork," De La Hoya, who is promoting the bout, told reporters.
"He has to keep popping that jab. You know he's not going to tire out. He's going to keep that fast pace for twelve rounds."
Mayweather beat De La Hoya by split decision in the same arena on May 5, in the highest-grossing fight in history.
De La Hoya believes Mayweather runs the risk of taking Hatton too lightly and suffering a letdown in the aftermath of that bout.
"When Mayweather fought me, he'd been dreaming about that fight for years, for all his life," said De La Hoya.
"When you start losing your focus, because you just took part in the biggest fight in the history of the sport, then you start thinking things like, 'Hatton can't be that tough."'
LESS INCENTIVE
Light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins, De La Hoya's business partner, echoed that theme.
"Floyd had a lot of stuff he wanted to prove with that (De La Hoya) fight," he said.
"He'd called Oscar out for years, and Oscar was training with Floyd's father, which Floyd had a problem with at that time, and he had more incentive to be at the top of his game mentally. And he doesn't have that any more."
Britain's undefeated world super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe said he believes the fight "is going to be a war."
"I just think Ricky's in the best shape he's ever been in," he told Reuters. "I think he wants it more than Mayweather.
"He can't outbox Floyd, he can't stand off from a distance. He has to jump on him early. It is very important that in the first four rounds he stamps his authority, maybe hurts Floyd, and gets him out of his rhythm."
But Calzaghe cautioned that Hatton "can't be careless. Floyd can punch incredibly fast. (Hatton) has a tremendous engine, and Floyd's a tremendous fighter. It's going to be a great fight."

I think this fight is going to make Mayweather prove he is pound for pound. Hatton is going to bring the pain, and Mayweather will have to pull out all the stops to beat him.
Should be a damn good show of skill and heart.

Yeah this fight better be good. They've been pumping it for a while now. It's going to be pretty shitty for boxing if this fight is a total flop. Also, they seem to be trying to directly compete with the UFC who have their TUF finals on Spike TV tonight at 9PM EST.

Yeah well, Hatton wants to brawl, Mayweather wants to box. If Hatton can shake up Mayweather it will go into an all out brawl for a few spurts here and there. And it seems like the crowd there is mostly English Hatton supporters which could piss Mayweather off and make him try to show off his skills a bit more and throw risky punches.
I don't think this fight could be a flop. Not from a boxing fan stand point. Lots of skill going down tonight and a Top Champ is going to lose for the first time in his career. I think it will be way better than the De La Hoya fight.

Mayweather let him come at him and used his sick defense to wear that punk motherfucker down throughout the fight. Then he showed him who wears daddy pants and knocked his bitch ass out. What a fight, it definitely made up for the terrible undercard.

Good fight. Bad result. From my perspective anyways.

it was a pretty brutal TKO.
The first knock down was pretty hard. He landed this monster left hook that Hatton basically walked into.
I was rooting for hatton till all the stupid english fans kept singing retarded songs.

Yeah man when those fuckers disrespectfully booed our anthem I was pretty much like fuck Hatton.
I was on the fence the whole time. Both are great fighters and they are amongst my favorite fighters to watch, but once i heard those boos, i was like ok, fuck Hatton because he has no chance anyways.
Mayweather talks shit, but he has great sportsmanship when its all over and he backs up all the shit he talks. I hope his retirement is only temporary, because I would love to see more of him. Too bad there isn't anyone left for him to beat.
I would like to see a Mayweather, Roy Jones fight though, that could be awesome.

Mayweather is just too good.
He let Hatton wear out in the early rounds,
this fight looked alot like Zab Judah's.

You can't come in swinging at Mayweather and expect to not get Rocked. I told you this would happen. Anytime you constantly bring the action to Mayweather he is going to wait and counter punch the shit out of you.
This fight proved that Mayweather is indeed pound for pound and there isn't anyone who has the complete package that he does.
He deserves to go down as one of boxings all time greats.

Good time to stop that fight.
Mayweather had a shot cocked that would have knocked Hatton halfway back to England.

I agree with this. It still feels really surreal, like a dream. I mean, he'd won 43 fights in a row, it was just... weird.
Mayweather deserved it though, he is absolutely top quality.

Especially since Hatton's got one of the hardest chins in the world, look how many shots he took from Kostya

its not that we're pissed bc a few brits come to see their man knocked out, but when they boo the star spangled anthem its pretty disrespectful (especially considering the millions of americans that died to save your puny island and the rest of the continent)
on a boxing note: I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MAYWEATHER V COTTO
hands down, floyd's speed wouldnt matter one bit bc migeul cotto would frieght train him just like anyone else he's fought. CALZAGHE / COTTO would be another brutal end to a legend.
