WBS Viability
    #7631903 - 11/13/07 06:00 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

I have a little question. I'm getting ready to do a monotub and I have a few WBS spawn jars that are about 1-2 months old. Would it be better to do a g2g and get a few fresh jars or would they be okay to use right now.I'm mixed between my extreme laziness and my extreme desire to have a bitchin' grow. I'm spawning to coir/coffee casing 50/50+ if that makes any difference.

The culture is probably as strong as it's going to get, spawning to new jars won't shange much.

if the jars were kept in a fridge I would .
if the jar are still in the ryzo stage ,,yes

monotub loss = large waste of products if you pooch it

if you are willing to take the loss go ahead

Cool, I'll probably do a few g2gs.
@ urayasan, it wouldn't be to strengthen the mycelium. It would be to ensure that the fungi has nutes left in the substrate to use.

Hmm, but the bulk of the nutrients will be derived from the coir either way...

probably way too late for this reply now, but that is a good spawn ratio so i don't see what the problem would be. i just spawned to coir with a couple jars that are 8-9 months old (kept under good dark, cool conditions) and everything looks great so far, almost fully colonized.
I also recommend adding coffee and gypsum to your sub, its the best

i just recently took a 2 month old jar and did a g2g with it. the mycelium took right away to the new grain. i think it would be safe to spawn to bulk, or a g2g. mycelium is viable for quite a long time.
