G. spectabilis?
    #7631448 - 11/13/07 04:46 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

hey guys, i need help identifying these guys I found today.
I live in southeast georgia.
It was discovered in very mulchy soil, in woods mainly of pine and maple. Sorry for the crummy pic.
Spore print: yellow-orange, rusty
Gills attached, very close, thin veil
no noticable bruising, although an area where the gills got squashed turned black.

It definately looks like an active gym.

You can clearly see bruising on the pin in your last picture there. Its pretty prevalent.

Fairly sure if it isn't active, that you shouldn't have anything too bad there. I gotta check up on the toxicity of gyms though.

that was my only concern. ive done tons of research, and can find no deadly species that looks similiar. not that exist in this area anyway, but as to the toxicity of gyms, i couldnt find much info. so far im feeling a little spaced-out, very similiar to small dose of psilocybin, so i pretty much know that theyre active:grin:
