Picture your worst enemy or the person who caused you the most pain ever in your life...
This paraphrases Jesus. A way cool guy. A little dilusional and definetely not supernatural, but way cool anyway.
Gandhi too, now that I think about it.
I like your Christ, but I do not like Christians - they are so unlike Christ. - Gandhi
Great thread, BTW.

Instead of anger, hatred, feelings of vengeance or other damaging emotions, you are to wish them well; to send them as much love, light and warmth as you would your best friend, family or lover.
The difficult part is separating the person from the actions the person did that caused the suffering.... It is the actions of the person that cause the suffering, even though the person is most usually the target of the hatred/anger.... In theory anyways....
I honestly can't think of anyone I hate tho~, and I caused myself the most pain in my life - at least, my actions did.....
I guess I failed the first exercise....! Are there any easier ones....?

Nope. I strongly disagree. In every situation in MY life in which I have suffered emotionally, the other person served only as an inspiration for my own desperate clinging and neurotic rejection of reality. No one can ever make us suffer emotionally, though they can cause us physical pain.

No, I agree with you....! I was speaking physical suffering - as that is usually(but not always) what drives me to make myself to be angry with someone else....
Emotional suffering is caused from within....
