i understand that mycofactory is the chief grow bag sponsor of shroomery but as i was looking around i saw The Mad Season, (I understand they're not a shroomery sponsor, so delete this if necessary.) They seem to offer perfect growing conditions, minus the heat and light needed.. I was wondering if anyone had any experience using these bags, and whether or not they're recommended? thx

first, this should go into vendor forums, second, it isn't a shroomery sponsor, and knowing so, you posted it anyhow. I am sure it will be deleted, hopefully no one here is letting non sponsors rip them off.

sorry man, im just looking for information, if you dont want to offer it then just don't.. my bad on posting in the wrong place, i assumed since my question had to do with the actual cultivation of mushrooms it might belong in the mushroom cultivation forum. as for it not being a sponsor, im sorry but again im looking for information and i think this is the best database of mushroom information there is on the web at least.
regardless of rules i was hoping for an answer

I don't see how they could be that much different than the bags from anywhere else

stick with shroomery vendors

I have a growing kit with this bag. Is the filter sufficient for gas exchange or I need to open the bag for this? Thanks

I have used the aforementioned bags multiple times....and they're usually hit-or-miss. I either get great results from using them to spawn, or I get nothing, not even myc. growth in them. The cust. service was great though.

yeah people fruit invitro or in the bag all the time I have before too with good if not great results .. it just takes longer in the bag than if the substrate was cased in put in a fruiting chamber .. do a search for invitro mycobag .. and please only buy from shroomery supporting vendors !

i feel all manufacturers of myco-bags are equally effective, some just contain different amounts of substrate elements. the cheapest reputable vendor of such i have found through ebay. nothing against the shroomery's sponsors, just being economically frugal.

I used alot of what monster says in his teks but we really need to support the vendors here .. it was coir poo coffee gypsum calcium carbonate verm and diatomatious earth . moistened with malt extract at a rate of one tablespoons at a gallon of water. oh and lime if I had to guess the breakdown was 2qts coir 1 qt poo 3 cups coffee grounds 3 cups vem .5 cups DE 1 tablespoon hydrated lime 2 teaspoon gypsum and teaspoon CC I think thats ..

oh some say add kelp but I didnt have any I pasturized this in jars and spawned to them when cool with 1 qt rye spawn to 2 qts substrate .. one fruiting quickly and the others follows shortly after .. but its long term like a month from spawn to harvest . strain was HI not all strains fruit invitro . they are smaller than SS bags but I think its better this way ..

do a search for monstermitch and look at his formulation .. I jut went by that .. I am sure its similar to what the SS is I got some to try and mine fuited much faster but I spawned to them where is with the SS I had used 30CC of LC per bag one took a while to colonized and the other took FOREVER if you are clean about thing s and there is no suspect contaim in your rye spawn .. things will colonize and fruit PDQ pretty damn quick . faster than an LC in a sterile bag but the rish of infection is there but i didnt have any infections in the bags with apawning.. I didnt even spawn them in the glove box

Oven bags cost about $3 for 4 bags plus the work to make em
filter patch bags cost about .50 cents each so why bother going through all the trouble to make em??
edit ..didnt thinkabout the fact the mycobags need to be sealed witha $100 impulse sealer or you can check the thrift stores for seal a meal bag sealers ..I found two of em for $4 each

Mycobags can be sealed by other methods such as with steel tie wire.
