The better way to dry

Hi.
I have built this to dry my mushrooms[image] [/image]
I have put calcium chloride crystals at the first floor and mushrooms on the second floor. I have sealed the plastic box with its lead. Does It work properly or I have to dry before my mushrooms with fan and then put them into the box? Someone tell me that if I put fresh mushrooms directly in this box, they can get mouldy. Is it true? Thanks

right. its a good idea to get it started off under a fan and then finish off with a desiccant to get completely cracker dry.

I use a similar setup with silica gel. If i didn't put them in fan dried and put lots of fresh shrooms in they would get mouldy. If it was only a few it worked OK.
On the other hand if I fan dry them first, I can put in loads and loads of nearly dry shrooms and they become cracker dry in a couple of days with no mold.

Personaly i prefer them fresh, dry shrooms for some odd reason doesnt do it for me, dont know why.
10 grams fresh gives me a great body high with strong breathing and pattern swirling of wallpapers.
upto 2 grams of dried, gives me a werider body buz with less obvious visuals.

you always lose something due to oxidation with drying. Fresh is best. but you can't always have fresh when you want it.

No! Do not pulverize mushrooms unless you are just about to eat them! Structural damage to the mushroom will reduce potency. Dry and store mushrooms whole for best results. =D

But pulverizing will expose more surface area to oxidation so store your powder away from air as much as possible
