I don't get where you guys think caring about the environment is synonymous with being an adult or mature. If you care about the environment, quit being a fucking cry baby pussy, and get a goddamn vasectomy as I did.

Grow up kids, and look at things with a realistic approach on life, you are nothing but a pathetic, worthless human. Want to talk about ego problems, you somehow have the ability or knowledge of a way of reducing the human footprint, I don't think so.

no, but caring about the environment and modifying your daily habits to be a little less destructive is acting responsibly, and often times responsibility is synonymous with maturity.

you don't think that people working together en masse towards producing less waste or reducing emissions or reducing fuel consumption will have an effect on anything? that's just idiocy. it's a numbers game. one single individual will not make a difference. 20 individuals will not make a difference. but if an entire nation recycles, you cannot deny that there will be a relatively large, noticeable difference.

i'm in no way proposing that everyone should be anti-consumerist smelly hippies, because lord knows i love buying shit as much as the next consumerist american. but that doesn't change the fact that even taking small inconsequential steps throughout our daily lives WILL reduce the so-called human footprint if the numbers are great enough. it may not be a significant difference that will save the world, but it's a start, isn't it?

being optimistic about conservationism isn't a sign of immaturity. acting like you don't give a fuck so you can seem "hard" is.

What is the point of this thread?
Seriously.
It's like you're bragging.
Just as much as you don't give a shit about the environment, I don't give a shit whether you do or not.

I like the environment. I am the environment. We are the environment. The environment is our coffin. May as well make our coffin as purty as can be. Thats why I want to be a biological engineer really. To help fix/help the things people like you create.

I gotta get up early for work in the morning so I don't have the time to properly address this sentiment, but your pride in your ignorance and defiant resignation does not excuse you from being ignorant. There's plenty that can and could be done. Use your imagination. Everything needs to start with an idea.

It might take some time to accomplish major goals and get a handle on the situation, you see, and getting the ball rolling just by talking about it might be enough, if you can bring yourself to conceive of just that.

The way I see it you guys are the ignorant fools.

Fags have been jumping on this train you guys are riding for years, and what difference is it making. With this many people on the planet, living the way we do, there is nothing any of us can do to prevent this planet from deciding that it wants most of us gone. You do things to pollute the environment as well, and so do billions and billions of other people, regardless of how much you try not to, the planet is still going to go south. Maybe you guys can "bring yourselfs to conceive" that being outspoken about shit like this is fucking annoying and pointless. I also like nature, I drive a car that gets 32mpg, I eat "caged free" eggs I get from my mothers chickens, I recycle my beer cans. What more do you do to save this fucking planet? Nothing, you actually contribute more by wasting the electricity required for you to come post on the shroomery, to fucking cry like pussies.

Fucking, how ignorant is it to believe that by eating cage free eggs you're saving the planet.

who the hell ever made that claim? ever? you're just grasping for straws. the purpose of eating cage free eggs is to support the farmers that expend the extra effort and costs in raising chickens that way so as to discourage the abuse and maltreatment the animals suffer otherwise. but no one has even mentioned that here because it's irrelevant.

no one is "hopping on bandwagons" here for any reason other than simply being conscious of the effect we have on the world around us. and no one is "preaching" either. every post here was made in response to another post or the main thread.

kudos to you for taking those steps. but why the fuck do you feel like anyone is attacking or preaching to you? your defensive pissy attitude is completely unwarranted.

Ah but you've missed lots of this trb. The elite humanitarians have been attacking and preaching bullshit. My pissy attitude is warranted.

Suddenly eating caged free eggs is synonymous with having a soul, and spending your days throwing around wrong and pointless information about the harm humans are doing to the environment is the definition of maturity.

How is seeking to be able to continually provide fresh water, clean food, breathable air, and productive soil foolish?

Quote:

Quite a bit. Part of the reason you are able to think that nothing has been done is because so much has been done, preserving things to the state they are in now. Improvement must always be a perogative. What's wrong with a 'bandwagon' that encourages aspirations?

In 100 years everyone alive will be dead. Complete turnover. Environmental issues have a variety of interacting scopes. On the small, local scale many places are alright. Other places need to stop making more fucking humans. Besides, it devalues us all, right? The more people there are the less something about each of us matters.

You're so defeatist, over before you've started. 100 years man, stop having fucking babies is a plan. Yeah, I do pollute. It's a condition of the times, for sure. It's tough to travel light, being in the land of plenty. The planet will be fine. Again, the issue at hand is the quality of life overall in a technologically advanced society such as we have now, where plenty is possible. Scaling ourselves to what is sustainable, and stretching what sustainability means, is the challenge. Being outspoken in favor of this is the first step to making it actually happen.

This reflects a larger problem with the perception of the environment and is a symptom of the larger, environmental movement as a whole. While I'm not really sure how cage-free helps the environment (besides the hugely wasteful nature of factory farming, part of hte problem), eating chicken is better than beef. Beef is hugely wasteful of resources, it is one of the greatest luxuries there is. Cut back. Eat cage-free chickens instead. Public transit? Fewer cars? Alternative fuels? What might our cities look like?

The scale of change that will be required is bigger than you will conceive of. Or maybe you can see it, but refuse to believe that humanity has it in itself to rise to that level.

Think of the transition from medieval farming communities, up to horse-and-buggy, to the fully fledged sprawling industrial revolution that transformed the landscape and refined itself to where we are now. Are you with me? Right now, we're at the medieval stage again and the transformation must be on the order of a second industrial revolution. Embrace it.

That's all you man, I dunno.
