ID help please, vibrant blue-green
    #7625962 - 11/12/07 02:23 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

My hunting partner and I have come across these mushrooms on two occasions this season. Both times we were struck by their vibrant blue-green pigmentation. We believe them to be Stropharia Aeruginosa but there are some subtle differences within the specimens collected. Also, we believe that we may have inadvertently mixed in some cubensis

Please help us identify these.

All specimens were found growing in dirt with a significant amount of wood chips (non cedar non conifer) around desiduous trees.

All specimens had a significant amout of blue pigmentation. Because of the extent of bluing, it is unclear if this is from a bluing reaction or natural pigmentation.

SOME shrooms were blue in the ground, those are the bluest specimens in the photos. These shrooms were extremely slimy.

SOME shrooms appeared very much like mature p. cubensis with yellow, smooth, firm caps, slightly darkened gills and evinced distinctive blueing around the stem and minor bluing on cap.

SOME shrooms evinced scaly patterns on caps.

NONE dispayed scaling on stem.

The spore prints are a very light reddish brown

-Thanks in advance

Yep, nice finds.
Are you in Canada by chance?
When a cube is crossectioned, as in pic #5, the meat of the mushroom will turn the bluest of blue :mushroom2:

Yeah, that's why I was asking about location. About a year ago, a fella found some real nice blue ones around ontario.

I'm just reaffirming that those are not Psilocybes. They are Stropharia. Not active.
