How do you know when a LC is ready?

hello,
my syrup LC has been on a magnetic stirrer for 12 days at about 75-80F. I see short mycelium strands and what seem to be a dozen or so white balls. I know its almost ready... but just wondering how much longer should I let it stir before its dextrimental to the LC
thanks!

your LC should be colonized fully before really using too much of it, or at least colonized enough

Should probably be fine - if the balls are the size of M'n'M's or larger, I'd go for it. Remember, its only gonna keep growing after you take some out of it anyways.

ok my balls are not as big as m n ms I would say half to a quarter that size
so I will give it couple of more days I guess
I will probably use some in a couple of days and store the rest of it in the frige, so I want it to be fully colonized

you should notice a color change, because the myc sucks all the nutrients out of the solution.

is THAT why my LC is looking clearer... what happens when it runs out of nutrients?

curious enough
mine has not changed colors it seems relatively the same I guess it should be getting darker?
I leaving for vaca on Fri for one week I was wondering if I could leave it on the stirrer or if I should wrap it up and throw it in my frige
I wish I could get more inputs....

ok good!
if anything, it has been getting slightly lighter its as clear as water, except for the white
I just held a jar of water and my LC to the light and they are pretty equal
It has been on the magnetic stirrer for 14 days at 75-80F
Is it done yet?
I think I may way a until Friday morning, and wrap it up, store it in the frige for later use
thanks

As far as I know, even if it isn't fully done you can just sort of try to suck up the bits with mycelium growing in it, if I were you I would get a big old quart jar and make that into a LC and inject some of this LC solution into it before you leave for vacation. That would then become your "working LC" that you would use to colonize a spawn like grains or whatever. The LC you have now would be your "Master LC" which you would use to make more "Working LC"
You might as well do it, it'll be colonized and ready by the time you get back
(I'm new to LC and right now am in the process of forming my first ever batch, so this information might be slightly inaccurate but I am pretty sure it's right, I've spent a lot of time reading)

maybe this is a dumb question but, Did you drop a magnetic stirrer into your jar Before you put it on the magnetic stirrer plate?
My LCs are about 7 days old, no magnetic stirrer, just 1 tsp of Karo to every 100ml of water, and they are all full of the fluffy white stuff. (probably like 45-60 M&M sized balls thats starting to look less and less like a collection of balls)
What kind of solution are you using?? i only ask because 14 days on that stirrer seems like a lot. how big is your jar?

You need a stirrer inside the jar for the magnetic stirrer plate to be effective. The magnetic stirrer pill looking thing spins round and round creating stirring, but set it low enough so no vortex. You can seal the jar with the stirrer inside as long as you sterilize the stirrer first.

The stirrer was in the jar before PC lol
I am using 500ml of water and 2 tbsp of syrup quart jar
I had it on low for most of the time once a day for like 5 mins I put it on pretty high just to mix things up
it looks almost ready
