A mushroom probably won't harm your sally, but if the conditions are good for mycelium growth, then the conditions are right for mold growth.
I don't know much about salvia's mold protective-ness though. If you are supposed to have to soil wet all the time, then have it wet.
The mushroom is probably growing off of your wood chips. It might even help out a little bit by adding nutrients to the soil.

good point.
Sally doesn't need to have all that much moisture but it can be helpful while the plant is small. I'd suggest cutting down on the watering once it gets a wee bit bigger.

actually that was just watered shortly before the pic was taken. the soil i used dries out real fast, but the soil that the cutting came in tends to hold moisture for long periods of time. kind of confusing me wondering if i should water it or not.

This is exactly the case with mine. The cuttings were rooted in super rich and dense potting soil that holds moisture for days and I transplanted them into pots with fast draining composted soil. I haven't had any problems with root rot or anything yet, but I would be careful if I were you.
