It results in bad quality sleep for me. That's been my biggest gripe with weed. However, I smoked at night and on a regular basis. Also, very low doses improved my sleep. Melatonin at night helps a lot too. I recommend it if you smoke daily.

I used to smoke every night before bed, then i got caught and had to stop. Couldn't sleep for shit at first, because my body was used to sleeping when high on that good ol THC and sober sleep was out of the question. Faded after a couple days but at first it sucked. The problem is if you get into the habit of smoking or drinking before you fall asleep your body gets used to it and won't go through its normal processes if it doesnt have the substance.

Really? I've certainly had trouble sleeping on alcohol, but usually I sleep great with pot. In fact, whenever I'm out of pot, I usually only get ~8 hours of sleep before my body wakes up on its own, but with pot I seem to usually get 9-10 hours.

I have wonderful dreams when high. Few days ago, really potent stuff, and my tolerance is back to my twelve year old levels. I had a dream about a former loved one, in a forest that seemed to glow green, and I could actually smell. I could smell moss, peat, and her fragrance. Which was pretty nice. Normally dreams are sight and sound only, with barely any texture. This time I could smell.
I am aspergers, so my mind could be sufficiently different that it doesn't result in me forgetting I had dreams.

When I was using DMT heavily, I experienced a few wake-induced lucid dreams. The feeling is absolutely amazing, very psychedelic. When I was talking about that weird configuration of consciousness (half asleep / half awake), I got on the topic a little bit. My wake-induced lucid dreams usually start off like that (half asleep / half awake state), and then they progress into a full blown dream. It's sort of like the beginning of a DMT experience where you are trying to push through the color, and then, suddenly, you push through the color. It's similar to a DMT trip escalating to a DMT breakthrough. Of course, DMT and dreaming are comletely dissimilar, but it does make an ok comparison when trying to differentiate between that weird configuration of consciousness and wake-induced lucid dreams.
I'd advise you to concentrate. Yes, I know that's extremely hard, and I know that these directions may sound extremely simplified. It took me forever to accomplish the art of lucid dreaming, and then, when I tried to experience wake-induced lucid dreams, I entered into a whole new ball park. It's sort of like learning to lucid dream all over again. It takes a lot of concentration. When you go to sleep, relax and, while you are relaxing, concentrate, concentrate on entering into the dream realm. Focus on staying conscious the entire time. Observe the escalation and progression.

I have been meditating a lot lately, achieving greater and greater states of clarity, so I may have sufficient mental discipline to have a chance with doing this. I'll start trying tonight.
DMT sounds amazing, I hope to experiment with smoking it sometime next month. I want to try ayahuasca too someday, but that seems a whole different kind of experience to me... I don't know if I'm ready.

Well, concentrating while going to sleep might have made a difference. I've noticed before that making a note to myself to remember my dreams as I'm getting tucked in helps too. I can remember a fair bit of my dreams last night. I also woke up for an hour or two before going to sleep for another six hours, which I've heard aids a lot in dream recall. I had a dream I ate 3.5 g of mushrooms and my parents came over while my pupils were the size of dinner plates, wow. Guess you can see what's on my mind.
Also, I think the dream-suppressing power of mary jane must be exaggerated, because I took a few tokes in the hour or two that I was awake.
