Cactus Questions

So, my little visitor should be arriving any day now ready for me to plant him
I don't really know the first thing about cacti though. He's a 3cm L. Williamsii, and I want to know:
1) Any specific kind of soil needed? 2) Do they grow indoors alright? 3) What can I do to make him grow big faster than usual? 4) Any general care info would be nice.
Thanks in advance.

Alright then, really all I want to know is ways to make it grow bigger faster, the rest I've found. I don't want to graft, either, just want to keep it like it is. Just wanted to know if there's any tricks or secrets to it, that's all.
I'll search around, though.

sorry didnt realize u didnt want to graft him. #1) well draining soil with some coarse inorganic material, like sand or grit, predominating in the mixture. more soil if you want to develope more roots. #2)Indoors is ok on a warm windowsill or under lights #3)lights, occasional mild organic ferts. #4)If you did graft it, it would probably pup or go to seed much faster. You wont be able to trip off of that one button in your lifetime. you can always cut it off and root it down the road, the grandpa to all your other buttons, gettin his legs back.

that was on mythbusters lmao. i think they proved that heavy metal was the best music to play for plants. not sure though, i only saw up to their first results, not sure if they did further testing after that to see if they could debunk it or whatnot.
i envy those mythbusters so much, id love to be able to do what they do, its gotta be the greatest job ever. just sittin around blowing shit up, kicking the shit out of a crash dummy, seems like youd almost have to be stoned to apply for that job.
-------------------- Dr says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.

Thanks for the info (I don't plan on tripping on it btw,it's for decoration and beauty. This is my first L. Williamsii, I plan on keeping him for a long time )

I saw that mythbusters episode too. Any tpye of noise seemed to beat ou tthe control group...but heavy metal had the best results. They said their smaple was large enough to give a solid confirmation, but it was extremely likely based on their test that sound increases growth.
