Becoming God - Preface

I was lost and deep in debt, then I saw all the money being made by books like 'Conversations with God' and 'The Secret' so I decided milk this cash cow. Notice how I freely toss around terms like 'quantum physics' (I got that from Chopra) and 'The Law of Attraction' (y'all know where I stole that), 'Chaos Theory' and even included a way-cool Fractal on the cover of my book. Then I followed with outrageous claims about the life-transforming power of my words and promised you can have whatever you want. Pandering is fun and profitable. I made my dream come true with your dollars, proving the basis of my ideas are valid. Give it a try.

I think that is how it actually works... kinda messed up, but at least both the reader and the author are getting something out of it.. even if it leads the reader in the wrong direction, they will be wiser after learning their mistake.
After reading the book Pronoia (the antidote to paranoia) I got a sense that the author was pretty much a burnt out hippie going from one festival to another aimlessly, and then (as he admits in the book) he's on acid at a festival and tries to come up with an idea for a book he can sell. Of course he fancies this all up as a project for enlightening human kind and gives it a fancy name like "the sunshine project" or something like that.
people dont need "imagination exercises" to stop being paranoid. they need to think rationally, be honest and confront their fears

Just because I bought the book, doesn't mean you have to be insulting!
