If i've accepted my brainwashing and am content, is it bad?

So i had this thought today.
If i realize I am brainwashed into leading my life in a certain direction, but am fully content with the end result, have I been cheated?

If you are aware of the brain-washing, then you haven't really been brain-washed.

my thought process is too complex to put into words. or i'm too high to put it into words. either way, i tried writing a more in-depth original post explaining wtf i was talking about, but after about 12 attempts i just left it at that initial quesiton.
it's been a loooooong day

Are you really content with the end results, or is it easier than facing up to what you really desire? If you live up to the 'brainwashing' you've become aware of, will it always nag on you that you didn't explore life more fully?
"Bad" isn't really the issue, as it isn't a question of morality.

but there's nothing wrong with the end results- if you're farmiliar with microeconomic terminology, the end results in this situation lie on opposite ends of an indifference curve.
they're both equally desirable, although on opposite ends of the spectrum

I'm not familiar with microeconomic terminology. I suppose the question, for you, is whether it is equally desirable to accept the life laid out for you by the expectations of your family and society, or whether you have an unsuppressable drive to make your own way.

If after seeing that you've been brainwashed into heading into a certain direction in life, you're okay with it, then how would that be 'bad'?
Cultures do have norms that are internalized through so many different means. One norm is what a person of a certain age, gender, race, socioeconomic class, etc. is supposed to do in life.
If you see that, and then willfully accept that as your own, and not just blindly accept it because it's the easiest choice or because you simply don't see it, then, IMO, it's good. But that's just me, either way is just fine.

So, what if there's a person who enjoys committing genocide or murder or rape? Those things make them happy, so should they just go for it?

Brainwashed in what way?
You're speaking to vaguely to discuss with. There are many forms of brainwashing. Which form do you realize you are indulging in? Answering this question will shed light on what you want answered.

I agree with the idea that if you are aware of your brainwashing, then you are not brain washed. And if you are content, then what is the problem. Think pink Floyd "I have become comfortably numb."
Also its good to be thinking about the future, but don't forget the precious Now. Many people have gone array, myself included, by worrying/pondering/thinking to much about the future. I supose the way I look at it is what am I doing NOW that will have an impact later. Sounds like you probably already know this though.

It is generally not possible to be aware of more than the tip of the iceberg of one's brainwashing.
I did an 'experiment' on a forum years ago. I asked American men what they thought of women with hairy armpits. The overwhelming response was that it was gross or at least unattractive. I asked if that was a personal preference. Yes, they responded. Not a cultural one. Nope.
Even laid bare, they did not see their preference as brainwashing. "I know what I like, dammit!"

Fully content sounds just fine to me. Many people like being asleep and don't want to be disturbed. I think that's just fine considering no one really knows what life is all about.

do not compromise the ability to create, sustain, maintain, and deploy conscious thought in the creation of your life
do not give your voice away to others
but
what do we want
and what does WANT have to do with any-thing at all, any-way?
i want to chill on a reserve with some natives and learn peyote rituals for a while.
and learn to make indian food

Do you consider "instinctual preferences" to be a form of brainwashing....? Example; replace female hairy armpits, with a female mustache and beard.... Same results, same reasons....?

How can you equate the two? All women have hair in their armpits whether shaved or not (universal); only a few young women have moustaches (not universal).
Female moustaches (not thin fine hair, but thick coarse lip hair) are usually a sign of lower than normal estrogen and higher than normal testesterone levels, which is not the best indicator for fecundity. This is a genetic marker and not a cultural one.

I wasn't equating, I was asking to see how far back you were going with "cultural brainwashing".... I have got to think that instincts themselves are just deep grooves of conditioned "brainwashing"....
