Are Humans Evolving To Be Bi-Sexual

i dont know about you folks
but MOST of my friends are bi-sexual
are we evolving beyond the need for mating norms
since sex is totally a social thing this day and age
and also note:
most of my friends are girls
but think about it
maybe girls evolve faster
they seem to be more pychologically flexable
or maybe its just the company i keep
it might be more about genetics
but i know shit about genetics
except what i learned from metal gear solid
(should this be in the philosophy section?)

I think humans are just becoming more open about their sexuality... It's much different than it was 20 years ago. humans realize that there is nothing un natural about it. So to answer your question I think not... Its just more accepted in our society

Well plus in our culture today women are encouraged to be bisexual.
Which is awesome as far as I'm concerned. I don't have a problem with guys being bi-sexual, but i don't think its sexy and often, women agree.

I am the first to admit I find intimacy between same-sex couples sexy. Although I'm kinda gay.

I believe Darwin concluded that women evolve at a steady pace and men are much more erratic.
Many more women are needed to keep the population going so nature can't afford to experiment with them, but very few men are needed so men become the vehicle of change.
But there are only 81 men aged 60 or over for every 100 women of the same age, and among the oldest populations, there are only 53 men for every 100 women. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women and in the animal kingdom when there is a lack of males 1 or more females will often take the male role.
Personally I just think it's just because our views of it are changing. bisexuality has been around forever but only recently has it become accepted/talked about.

no, because it's all how we look at. in our culture, bi and homo-sexuality aren't openly accepted. In some cultures, there are men from a young age who have these tendencies and they actually dress up as women, have sex with males, etc... and it is fairly acceptable
not to mention lots of other species of primate (and a lot of other animals in general, ex. cow) often display homosexual behavior within a group...as in all members at one point in time if not quite frequently are involved in these relationships
it's all cultural/religious

yay there is no such thing as human evolution anymore. goverments and society keep everyone alive, so the weak survive to contribute to the genepool. It is really sad and sometimes gets me down but what can you do?

It's social evolution. Evolution relies on the two gender mechanism so it will never make us bisexual.

I also agree that sexuality is heavily influenced by culture. That said I don't think evolution is "over". Where is the evidence of that? We are definitely offing ourselves at a much faster rate than we evolve, but saying evolution is "over" is ignorant. It takes millions of years for life to form, and millions more for it to evolve.

It isn't "ignorant." There is a debate between scientists regarding it. Humans do not practice natural selection, as ChiefGreenLeaf said. We don't get rid of stupid people.

Evolution can never be over. Its a perfect mechanism. Even with technology, it can't be beaten. If/when the human race wipes itself out due to its unprecedented intelligence, that will just be evolution saying we are not fit to survive. And if we do somehow carry on, we will only be able to do it by being more in tune with nature, and probably limiting our technology that we can use.

The Romans didn't have a word for "gay" or "bisexual" because bisexuality was considered to be the norm(at least among men). It was considered perfectly normal for a male property owner to sodomize his male slaves, just as he would fuck his wife or his female slaves. It was only if the slave sodomized his master that it was considered scandalous. I've heard that only one Roman emperor was exclusively heterosexual(though they may have just been referring to Roman emperors before the Roman empire became Christian). Also, in feudal Japan, married men would often sleep with male prostitutes at the theater, and this was considered normal. While I do believe that there is a biological component to sexual orientation, history seems to show that a lot of it is socially determined.

Never thought about that, touche. I agree to an extent. I can see how that would slow evolution down, but I can't see how it would stop it all together.

Dude, come on.. You know that natural selection is still happening... Getting 'rid of stupid people' (whatever that means) has nothing to do with it. There are humans out there who reproduce more than others, they are the ones whos traits are going to be passed down. That is natural selection.
About bi-sexuality, I think it is definitely a cultural/society thing. I dont see how being bi-sexual would increase offspring's chances of survival... Maybe if the parents dont feel sexually repressed, they will have more kids? Maybe but thats a stretch I think...
