Coolmist problems

So I have one of those Vics Kaz V400s. I was using it for RH in a small plexiglas fruiting chamber and was consistently getting RH of 95%. After I took down the setup for a while I took it all apart and washed the entire thing out. It was fully of that pink goo that grows in those humidifiers so I wanted to clean it really well. When I put it back together for my most recent FC it only gets up to 74%. It connected with a 5/8" tube from a hole drilled on one side. The tube is about 1 1/2 foot. If I put it directly in the tub it will get it up to around 83%. I can't figure out why it isn't performing like it used to. Any ideas? Perhaps I got water on the motor and it isn't spinning as fast? Its really beginning to piss me off.

Have you calibrated your hydrometer lately? They can easily go out of wack, causing this kind of frustration. Otherwise I doubt anyone can explain your humidifier perfomance without having a look.

I'm using 2 hygrometers I know one is messed up, but the other one works well. My guess is that its the humidifier... I've tested a bunch of different configurations and it just isn't doing it.

With the onset of wenter, it may be harder to keep the rh up. During the summer I ran mine on a timer every 3 hours for a rh >95. Now I have to run almost 24/7 for the same >95.

Running hoses from a coolmist ruins them in short order. I noticed this a few years ago and stopped doing it. If you're using a terrarium, use well drained perlite for humidity. For a mini greenhouse, put the unit inside the fruiting area.
On the vics coolmists, the V shaped nozzle that spins in the water is detachable. Simply prevent the disk from turning, and rotate the nozzle half a turn and it will separate. It might have become clogged up inside where the rifling is, when you cleaned. RR

perite is definatly the best method for small setups. cheap even when replacing the perlite every few months.
I thought the colder weather would show a slight increase in humidity.
in my setup I seem to get slightly higher humidity when the temps drop.
I have heard that as it gets warmer rh readings drop as warmer air can hold more moisture? have I got something confused
