Stoners and food.

started smoking again and the people who get the munchies astound the hell out of me. this particular group of my friends are striaght stoner bums. (im in college and not a bum) i need to rant my frustration.
it's 9:30 on a sat. night and everyone has the munchies. this is the part where people start saying "hey is anyone else hungry." followed by people talking about how much money they want to spend to get food, usually resulting in people scrounging quarters for few snack wraps.
so after some discussion. half the group doesnt want to spend the money, and the other half wants to go to taco bell. so then i suggest why doenst everyone throw down a few bucks and we can go to the grocery store. we can make a ton of burritos for alot less. or we could go to the store and get some steaks and red potatoes for what you would pay for a greasy combo meal.
and someone replies "man im just trying to get some food, not do all that" like cooking before you eat is really that absurd...?

If smoking pot leads you to taco bell, you may have a problem!

Anything that leads you through the door of a fast food franchise counts as a problem.
I have discussed this with friends, and it seems like after a couple years of pot-smokin' the munchies apply a lot less.
I know I consciously say to myself "You're just high, don't eat that. It'll make you feel terrible later"

"man im just trying to get some food" Ive heard this sooo many times it's ridiculous.
-------------------- Man is timid and apologetic; he is no longer upright; he dares not say "I think," "I am," but quotes some saint or sage. He is ashamed before the blade of grass or the blowing rose.Man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoe to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time TRANSCEND

If I am high I like frozen grapes. The are scrumptious.
or I like apples alot.
If I am really hungry I like to grill up some chicken, peppers, oinions and what not and make a fat burrito with some cheese.
Or red beans and rice that is good.

I can identify with the whole "munchy" phenomenon.
Every time I've smoked weed (probably around 8-12 times) I've actually lost ALL appetite and not eaten until the day after. Even if I'm hungry I'd rather not eat while high because since my taste is much more sensitive (due to the highnesS) and my palette is pretty discriminating to begin with, everything starts to taste really shitty except fresh, high quality ingredients.
shit like taco bell, other fast food meals and convenience store snacks really don't do it for me sober, when I'm high its wierd at best and nauseating at worst.
Once I chewed gum after smoking a blunt and even that was an uncomfortable experience.
sorry to derail the thread, just got me off on a tangent.

Strange, I dont notice herb giving me the munchies for some reason.
Sometimes maybe, but I prefer vegetarian food for the most part.

glad to see im not the only one irked by this retarded mindset.
i mean come the fuck on, is it that difficult to spend 20 minutes cooking to create a meal that is 20X more nutritious and wont turn straight to fat after eating it???
when i get high, i cook some hellacious munchies, but theyre all healthy.

Hah, I know what you mean. A lot of the processed crap that we've got around the house tastes neutral/slightly 'off' and I hardly even notice it when I'm sober (like a frozen pizza or a frosting covered granola bar), but when I'm high it's like I can taste every ingredient , additive, and preservative. It's terrible. The snozzberries still taste like snozzberries, though.

I think you should invest in making your own food, try buying food at a grocery store, you will save a lot more in the long run. But I like the dollar menu myself, if you are only buying a couple of food items.

Most of the time I don't eat when I'm high. And to go to Taco Bell? Yuck.

Value Menus are my best friend. That coupled with bottles of water/tea.

I don't get the munchies that badly but I really love to down a big container of chocolate milk when I'm high.

I don't mind cooking while baked, but it tends to lead to: A) crispier than it should be food B) fires C) burnt hands/cut fingers D) I cook more than I need E) a huge fucking mess
E is the only one that I truly loathe, the rest I can live with.
