Just one question, why the huge lack of trust in man kind? I mean after all, aren't we all supposed to be able to trust one another?
psh, tell that to someone who's best friend ratted them out to get off the hook... Or to someone who's ex-girlfriend narced as a vengeance burn... Or to the guy who got ripped off by some punk kid at club selling baby aspirin as ecstasy...
trust won't get you too far in this world, my friend.

Wow, what a touchy subject. The fact is, I'm not looking at it from your point of view, so forgive me, if you will. The fact is i am interested in mycology. That was what i stated in the beginning, and that is what, "my deal" is. Now, do i have an interest in "active" mushrooms? Well hell yeah, but my interest lay primarily in the whole topic of mycology. Sorry to disappoint any one looking for a scape goat to there not so trusting past experiences. I'm not your narc. I have a past too, but i don't blame faceless people for the happenings of my past. Truth be told, i personally believe in the, every thing happens for a reason thing. Now, I'm done defending myself, and I'm not going to try to gain anyone's acceptance in this situation. I'm going to go on with my intent of finding some one in my area that is interested in spending some time sharing there knowledge of mycology with me. Call me crazy, i know.. God strike me now, but i don't think the fuzz is going to look for a couple of people pickin mushrooms in the woods when they have plenty of crack dealers down in old town to deal with.. Personally, i think the most dangerous part of my endeavor is running into some gang bangers at my local park while looking for mushrooms..

Have you looked into Mycology clubs in your area? Most major cities have at least one; I live in a city of only 75,000 and several groups here offer courses for beginners. You may not learn about finding actives, but you're interested in mushrooms in general, correct?

that's what bothered me about your posts: you emphasize you are interested in "mycology" but you try to divulge some information in the pub. everything related to mycology can be easily gained by using the cultivation forum, any issue that you're curious about can be viewed after using the search function...

Anyone who will meet up with a stranger over the internet to teach them about illegal activity is, in my opinion, stupid. You do NOT want stupid people telling you what mushrooms you can and can't eat.
If you want to learn, read. it's just that simple.
i suggest that you pick up a popular mushroom hunting book focusing on your area. you should be able to find one at your local bookstore.
after that, practice practice practice. and when you find a mushroom that you want to identify, look at every defining aspect of it, and then list those aspects in the ID forum, after a while, you will get the hang of it. just use caution at all times, triple check everything, and always get a second opinion.
welcome to the wonderful world of mycology, NARC!

You would THINK this, but I seriously would not put it past police, even higher up ones like detectives. They will routinely waste their time on some hippy growing weed when meth heads are the ones stealing copper pipes from underneath buildings to sell it for scrap to buy meth.
I mean, the whole basis of the drug war is illogical, so you can't expect these people to have any sense of priority.
