Why are you anxious about studying? You don't think you will understand the material?
I usually just sit down and start reading and absorbing the material.
Do you go to class a lot?

i know i will understand the material and if i don't i just keep working through it, so i don't know what it is.
I think it's because it's taking time away from when i could be relaxing or enjoying playing guitar or something and it feels like i don't have much time for anything, but i guess that must be part of being a student.

Just open up the book and deal with it. Yes I'm being harsh but what else can you do? Your paying for school this time why not make the best of it. Work hard than play hard.

Yeah it's what I'm doing right now.
Fear of work is worse than the work itself methinks..at least when it comes to school stuff.
It all comes down to discipline I guess- and reminding yourself why you're doing what you're doing. But who am I to talk since I'm killing time on a message board.

I remember feeling like that when I was in school. As somebody who gave into that impulse to relax and smoke pot and play guitar almost every time, I can tell you it's not a good way to do it. Stress was always high because you're always catching up; you're never truly prepared. Self-esteem suffers, life gets harder... its terrible.
You have to get that studying done anyway. There WILL be time left over; you are not cheating yourself by studying, I promise. Once you get some studying done, relaxing is sooo much sweeter.

I'm one of the few that actually revels in term paper procrastination. I always right my paper the night before it's due, always. But there's a difference, I get all my research and sources finalized before I do. Then I sit down and right out of list of what I want to talk about. Then I write another list of expanding on the first list. Then I read the books and take notes and have them all prepared for when I write.
When writing, I have two Word documents. On the left screen (I have dual monitors) is where I type and do my bibliographies and the like. On the right is my finished paper. Nothing goes on that screen until I'm satisfied with the way it looks on the left screen. I also never place a period until I'm satisfied that what I wanted to say in the sentence is said.
Oh yeah, and I never revise......ever. Not once.

I lately have found that i have no time to do anything. I sometimes have to skip meals because of the school work.
I understand. The key is to get it done and not fall behind. You here it all the time.... its true though.
If you keep up, you don't have to work as hard in one sitting...
I am trying to transition to just keeping up, but i seem to be the cram at the end and go all out type.
The key here is you are paying to do this. So, you may need to reevaluate your goals.

I am a queen of procrastination. I find I work best under pressure. I work in a similar way to Penguarky, although I don't have dual monitors. I always have my sources and reading done well in advance, but I don't start writing until a few days before due dates, at best. I have one word file for the essay, and one for a sort of scattered outline and relevant notes. Then I just start typing, usually with a shitty introduction that gets edited at the very end. I shift the structure and intentions of the paper as I write, because once I start writing I usually think of more to say, or different ways to connect it. I cannot plan out perfectly what I will write before I write.
Speaking of which, I gotta get back to a paper due tommorrow! It's almost done. I always have to sit on a roughly completed draft for a few hours before going back to it fresh to pull it together.
