Patterns you see on Hallucinogens

I read somewhere that snowflake pattern you see when on hallucinogens is the back of your retina that your brain blocks out and when your hallucinating it doesnt and you see that pattern on everyone. Anyone else heard this? The book I read it in was my high school psychology book and it actually showed that pattern.

I think I saw the back of my eyes once superimposed on everything. I was seeing veins over my vision and when I moved my head to look at something else, they were still there in the same place of my eyes. It was very strange. This only occured when I had my eyes open.

I'm glad you wrote this. I've been thinking about it for a while. I've been under the impression that the cones and rods in your eye get stimulated in some sorta way. rods being more abundant seeing shapes, and cones less abundant seeing colors. this would explain why the intensity of the trip determines whether the paterns are colored or not. Am I explaining this right?? I also think trips do the same trick on the little hairs in your cochlea<---sp? in your ears. Giving you those wierd sounds. The warping however, I believe to be centered deep in your brain.
hey baraka, I only get the chainlink effect when I do n2o. The other psychedelics I've done give me a more kaliedescopic effect. But when i do n2o on acid I get a crazy bubbles of warpage all over the place, not to mention the most brilliant colors.

That's interesting Doozer, on my last trip instead of vibrant colors everything seemed pale and washed out. I did see vein patterns on the walls and ceilings.
Now I want to know why my friend's head kept growing large then shrinking like a balloon.

I always see a lot of triangles and squares. Usually the triangles are acute, and the squares follow one another in different colors and sizes.

yeah girl, i've seen the veins too...pulsing with life. maybe the viens in your eye like Purple was talking about stimulate the rods and cones that they're closest to, giving that vein patern. funny you should mention the ballon head thing. I've not seen that on any chemicals, but when i was a child I did. When my father would scold me his head would get HUGE, but then it would shrink down to a pea. I remember thinking it was pretty funny even tho he was pissed LOL. Yeah newt, i gota admit on mushrooms in particular I get a aztechy, indian feel patern. I wonder where they got the idea to make those mosaic art pieces . Wood grain is one of the best things to observe. Have a look at some concrete that has been formed with plywood next time you go. Its beautiful
