damn dude, no one remembers Johnny Bravo ! that show was awesome along with dexters lab.
I miss them a whole bunch. But it was the japanese invasion that ruined all cartoons, i mean anime WTF is that? although DBZ as a kid was pretty cool.
all that other stuff is crap.
I still watch cartoons alot but only like adult cartoons south park, robot chicken, family guy, athf.

This is the reason I have X-men, Smurfs, and Thundercats DVD's. My kids won't be allowed to watch this new crap.

Every once in a while the wife and I will watch a bit of the Boomerang channel just for kicks. All the great toons from our youth on there. I outgrew Saturday morning cartoons before the 80's so its all Hanna Barbera/Warner Bros for me.
I loved Johnny Quest as a kid. Everytime his stereotypical indian pal Hadji would yell I'd laugh and yell along with him...

Silversoul hit the nail... there are still great cartoons but they are geared towards adults. Which is interesting because the greats we so fondly remember were geared towards adults as well. The Saturday morning cartoon phenomenon really was a family time because both children and adults were entertained. As cartoons became more and more kid oriented the context of watching them further alienated the adults.
One kids cartoon still in production that still rocks is "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" which is drawn and voiced by the same couple who did PowerPuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory. That is, Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust.
As far as a fucking superb cartoon that is still hand-drawn albeit digitally check out "Venture Brothers". Not kid-safe, tho.

Dexter's lab and Johnny Bravo were extremely stupid and repetitive. The old warner brothers cartoons may have been animated well but the plots and jokes are all the same. The only new cartoons that bother me are the American and Canadian ones that try to mimic the style of anime. The older episodes of sponge bob square pants are a lot funnier then a lot of old shows.

The cartoon "My Dad is a Rock Star" is good too.
I found some new Looney Tunes done in flash I think on their website: http://looneytunes.warnerbros.com/web/toons/toons.jsp
It's not all anime that ruined cartoons, there's a lot of good anime that will remind you a lot of old cartoons (at least the old anime... Stuff like Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2, or even newer stuff like Azumanga Daioh is funny.)
Specifically it's Dragonball Z, where it was mostly a big fight scene every episode. Dragonball original was really good though.

What about Beanie and Ceacil? Davey and Golieth?
lol This was a blast from the past.
