Mazatapec or Treasure Coast? (pic)

From my first attemp at casing.. Was more of an experiment than anything. Ditched them, left them on top of the fridge for a couple weeks and they started growing. Can't remember if they were the TCs of the Mazatapecs, can anyone tell?
Oh yea I've been misting with around 10% alcohol. No special reason, just what I had in the bottle.

That first image looks positively weird! Not neccessarily unappealing, though...
They fruited in the fridge? Maybe that's why it looks like they've put on their winter seasonal camouflage.
Definitely don't mist with alcohol.

ah ha . . ok then, no more alcoholwater. they've been getting a lot of that.
knew it wasn't necessarily a smart thing to do, I'll switch to regular water.
I think they look pretty neat.

I agree with everyone else on the alcohol. "STOP THAT". Poor little things.

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't even spray with regular water at this point.

got it. my guess is you enjoy being sprayed in the face with something a bit more natural
they seem do be doing well regardless. that's a tray that somebody told me to ditch anyway. looks like I should have taken their advice too.
after my visit to a real deal farm, and witnessing professional results, albiet employing 1/3rd of the complicated procedures and unnecessary measures that most growers here profess to using, I've begun to question a lot of the 'knowledge' that floats around here. Having said that, there's obviously a huge amount of talent lurking here as well. I'd be lost without having read some of the experiences of others. I'm trying to take the most experimental approach, trying bit by bit to dial in what will work best for me. i'm in a different region than most here, so naturally a lot of variables, as well as available materials are also different.
funny thing is, I actually HAVE been spraying my face, and entire body (clothed in freshly washed clothes of course) with diluted alcohol prior to every entrance to my growing area. I'd only begun doing so after reading again and again about the importance of maintaining a sterile environment, free of contaminants. I was bewildered when at the mush farm I was led by the boss around the ENTIRE operation, with no such precautions. I mean I was laughed at when I mentioned wearing a facemask in the room where they did their innoculations. maybe it was the fresh breeze coming through the open windows that kept all the nasty contaminants out.
go figure.
oh yea and Caribou_lou I'm only spraying because the trays are sitting in a steady breeze going through my apartment, and they'd dry out in a flash without. at this point I'm happy to see ANY growth on those ones, and have got other shit cooking in my grow room.

Well I vote treasure coast for what they may be. I haven't seen maza's like that before. On cleanliness: I use a flow hood now for most operations. I used to used a glove box, but now I just have a big tupperware upside down, hinged to a counter. The hepa is under the counter pushing fresh air up through a hole in the counter. I have flaps over where my arms go in. I wipe everywhere with rubbing alcohol, load the whole thing up, and let the hepa run for 15 minutes with it all closed. When I do my operations, I wash my hands and stick 'em in there bare. I do pint jar inocs in here, g2g's, some minor agar-like culture maintenance work. (I grow revolving cultures in lc and continually add together new isolates. I never use master slants, but I do keep spores of my new strain creations for later work. I just have no space for a full agar storage setup like I want.) Anyway, I start out super clean, but once I start working I just keep going and get it done. I feel that as long as I am doing things logically, and not keeping all my sterile stuff out in the air too long, it should be fine, and has been. For my fc, I pipe in outside air through only a prefilter to catch visible contaminants and minor dust. No infected casings in over a year. I simply keep all my casings misted well with wax paper over them 'til knotting time and then I open up the fan. I use a standard ultrasonic humidifier piped in and distilled water in it.

well that definitely sounds 'dialed in'.
seems once you get to the fruiting stage there's not much to worry about. I've had four trays on the top of my fridge for two weeks and they're doing fine. I think that's going to be my place for spent casings on their w

Ben18, thanks for the guess, it's hard to tell with all that blueness.
In my short time here I've noticed there's plenty of juvenile pre-pubescent posters, some arrogent old timers, and a nice group in the middle. Goes without saying I miss overgrow SO much! I mean in my few years there I met people from all over the world, ranging from tiny to mega huge grows, and a completely free flowing communication between all of them. For example it was not uncommon to see some teenager closet grower ask some netherlands commercial grower a bonehead question, and then get a very level headed reply, every time. The same cannot be said for this place. However the population here also seems to not have the same magnitude either, so nevermind my hot air. Too bad og is gone.
Worth noting, these:

Are all miraculously now fruiting!! They were left to die on the top of my fridge for two weeks, dry almost to the bone, except for my alcohol sprays of course. Knowing I had nothing to loose, I scraped the hell out of them with a dog hair brush, put em in a ziplock with an H2O2 mix, and stuck them in the fridge for a day. Now I've got them in a couple little rubbermaid FCs with some polyfill covered holes (high humidity inside), and they're all pinning even better than they did the first time.
Not too long ago I read someone post that the point is to provide even semi-adequate environments, something something to allow the fungas to grow. Basically saying that the shit WANTS to grow, now I can see the truth in that. I mean, these bastards had complete overlay, then dried out, and are now growing wonderully. I'm pleasantly surprised to say the least.
I'll put some pics up when and if there's some nice fruits.
