outside of the subtitles, its fucking awesome. best subtitled movie ive ever seen.
No fucking way.

QED
The only cool parts in this movie were the fight scenes on the bamboo.
I just watched apocalypto last weekend with my dad. It's... definitely mel gibson material. I liked the ending, but I didn't really gather anything from the movie... so the movie was crazy as far as the stunts and plot goes, but the overall theme, was lacking.

didnt like the movie at all, some guy running in the forest for about 45 minutes of the movie, incredibly plotless, boring, and an otherwise waste of millions to make such a pointless movie.
If your gonna make a violent movie that doesnt have much of a plot itleast be like Platoon that allows characters to develop. Its like a 8 year old made Apocalypto...

It was okay bust never broke through to the level of greatness. Mel Gibson is not capable of true greatness.

do you remember the "fierce" animals? they all looked like something off my little sister's bed. They were bad enough to distract me from the movie at points.

this movie was innocently intense.... like you start out not really convinced that it should be an R rated film and then it goes south on you like i dont even know what.

I need to explain my quotation, here: "Pan's Labyrinth" is a BRILLIANT film.
It's awesome.
For sexual fantasies in Espanol, I like to mirar al video de "Y Tu Mama Tambien."
Shit, hope my Spanish held up on that one. What guy doesn't fantasize about a hot chick wanting to go on a road trip and fuck?
However, gay overtones--or, should we say, BFF--jacking-off-together--overtones--can't say I identify with that.
Unless it's with Sucky. And we've just killed an Elk. And Sucky is like, "Hand me another Busch Light".

Y Tu Mama Tambien was a very good movie, kudos! You're the only other person I've known that has seen that movie. Pans Labyrinth is amazing..I just wish there was more of the fantasy elements overall, but it's still great!

RuNE said: I think it portrayed what it was trying to portray extremely well. Executed perfectly.
Some people don't get it, or don't care for it, so they say it 'sucked'.
Oh I get it man...that's exactly why I don't like it. I was hesitant to see it as soon as I found out Mel Gibson was making it because, you know, Mel Gibson is a religious fanatical nutbag who thinks he's doing God's work all of a sudden.
Lets take a look at the opening quote...I don't remember it verbatim but the movie basically starts out "Before a civilization can succumb to outside forces, it must be rotten within"
So, there's your Mayan civilization according to Mel Gibson...rotten, and conquered not because of superior weaponry and betrayal but because they sacrificed humans to false gods.
I mean what do we learn about Mayan civilization from watching this movie? Nothing good at all...they are portrayed as evil savages. Now, maybe they were...I really don't know, but I don't like it.
Even the tribe of savages in the beginning are really quite savage. Their entire world is shown as chaos even before they are conquered.
Ok, so now the captured people are brought by a little leper girl and what do they do? They leave her. We all know that's not the Christian thing to do. Christ would have cured her, you see. And of course, the little leper girl is a prophet...of which god? Guess...
So, there's an eclipse, the guy escapes, blah blah blah...here's some Rambo sequences and some prophecy fulfillment.
And then the end is straight out of Lord of the Flies, but instead of the British navy showing up just in time to save the children from themselves, its the Spaniards arriving, I guess, to do the same thing.
So, yeah...I didn't like it.
edit: lol, didn't see that the second post was by you. Sorry Senor, opinion still stands.

What I didn't like about Apocalypto was that the eclipse passed way too quick. Other than that I think it was decent movie and I'd watch it again sometime. Pan's Labyrinth was quite good too.
