I have something to do. Sit in my room and try my ghetto ass homemade wine. Hope I don't die or get sick. I'm not really in the same position but good luck to you.

Well I was joking mostly. Its just not going to be very good. I mean how good can wine from grape concentrate really be?

Atleast it's by choice. Funny enough I've never really been fishing except when I was 8. Do you catch them for dinner or throw them back in?

good enough to get you wasted! haha. no seriously though, i make mine out of welchs 100% concorde grape concentrate. it fucking ROCKS. its the strongest wine ive ever had. i make mine a bit on the sweet side though. not all would like how sweet i make it. but you can vary the sugar levels. my recipe is 10 cans of concentrate, 5 lbs sugar, add to 5 gallon water jug, add 1/4 cup yeast, fill with warm water to bottom of where the neck starts to get smaller, rubber band saran wrap over mouth, poke a few holes to release pressure, wait 3 weeks, syphon into smaller bottles(wine bottles, gallon bottles) and let age my friend.
i find that after 2-3 months of aging its just about perfect for my taste. i love it. one glass gets me hammered.

Yeah, pretty much what I did but on a smaller scale. I don't have the patience to wait that long. How is it going to taste right after its done fermenting and chilled down? What is the alcohol content(best estimate)? And I don't have nearly as high a percentage of sugar. I mean, god damn that is a lot of alcohol.

Fishing is almost a meditation for me, it's something that eases my mind and helps me let go of bagage. Something about being alone and connecting with the water. I keep one every now and then to eat, dpends on the fishing I'm doing. Sometimes I bring my pipe and smoke herb or salvia and just wander around and watch wildlife. It's more of an excuse to be in nature with myself than anything.
There are certain types of fishing where I keep everything.
 (ice fishing crappie, tastey)
And others I let go
(northern pike, not a bad taste but a little work to clean, hell of a fight)

well technically its never done fermenting unless you add sulfites or the sugar runs out, and if you cork it while still fairly active, it could take years and years to stop fermenting, the more pressure created, the slower it ferments.
how long did you ferment? a good rule of thumb is to wait at least a week, or until the major fermentation is done, you can tell this when the large and constant bubbling slows significantly. any sooner and there usually isnt too much alcohol formed yet. and after a week its not really a wine yet, its more like a fizzy, slightly alcoholic fruit drink.

6 days. Even if it isn't too strong I'll try it again. The bubbles weren't as active so I hope its fine. EDIT Yeah, it tastes pretty strong to me. I'm guessing at least 15% alcohol. Its rather fizzy, like an alcoholic fruit soda.

no problem. if you brew it in the 5 gallon ratio, youll save time and money. i think all of the ingredients cost right around $15. works out to about $3 a gallon. now thats some cheap fucking boose!
two tips.
1. after the initial yeast flare up dies down and either you clean up the overflow or the threat of overflow is gone, quickly take the saran wrap off and fill the rest of the bottle up with bottled water, until about an inch or so below the neck.
2. if sweet alcohols dont mix well with your taste, cut the sugar amount in HALF. you might even want to go a little lower, there is a good amount of sugar in the concentrate. but also remember, the more sugar + longer fermentation = hellified alcohol %.
ive got a couple bottles that are still aging from about 3 years ago, i cant fucking wait to pop one open. havent decided when im going to do that yet......

I'm just having a few ounces of it. I'll age it for a week. Do I age it in the fridge or room temperature? Do you recommend taking it out of the container I fermented it in?

She hasn't told me yet lol..she was just there yesterday looking for an apartment and I haven't talked to her yet. I'll make sure I let ya know when I find out though. My car just died though so do you think it's going to be tough to get a job, etc without one?

room temperature. dont put it in the fridge until you want the fermentation to slow down.
honestly, i would suggest drinking it now that youve opened it. its likely to turn to vinegar now that you have removed the protective carbon dioxide layer. the only time i chance air exposure is when i siphon it into the secondary fermentation bottles. and i make sure that it is still bubbling to replace the CO2 quickly, and i fill it as much as i can while still being able to cork it or cap it.
it doesnt take much to contaminate unsulfited wine.
also, when you ferment in small bottles, i wouldnt bother moving it to another bottle. too much hassle + too much risk. also, be careful when pouring the wine out, so you dont get some sludge in your glass which is why i do large amounts then transfer to smaller bottles, after 3 weeks much of the sludge has settled, and its easy to siphon it without disturbing the sludge layer.

22 and yeah religious. My dad's real hardcore about that kind of stuff. My mom knows I drink occasionally and that I 'tried' weed (Although the fact that I still do it she will never find out lol) so she isn't that bad about things. I've been to Lakeland before, a friend of mine is from there.
Do you know those Welches sparkling grape drinks they have that look like they're in wine bottles? Yeah he kinda made a big deal about those until he found out it was non alcoholic lol

hmmmmm..... theres really no way to tell. when you poured it, that sucked contaminated air into the bottle and mixed up, and blew out most, if not all of the CO2, you can try it, either itll be fine, or a lesson learned. its alot worse to contaminate a large batch than it is a small one.

well taste is the ultimate guage with wine. however, either it will smell sweet and "winey" or it will smell tart and sour like vinegar.
dont worry about getting sick though, vinegar wont hurt you. its actually pretty good for you.

yeah, see, i was the opposite. i rebelled young, after 16 my parents pretty much let me do what i wanted. drink, drugs, whatever. im 22 now, and ive pretty much partied myself out lol..... im not a huge drinker anymore, a little here or there, i dont like to get sloppy drunk anymore. dont do any hard drugs anymore, and ive even cut way back on smoking pot.
ohhhh ill probably be here for several years. me and the ms. would like to move further north one of these days. we both would be happy anywhere around tennessee, north carolina, that area. she really loves georgia, but i told her i cant get mushroom spores in georgia and theres NO way in hell thats happening south tenn. is fine by me. lol
but shes in nursing school, im about to start EMT and then firefighter training. weve both got a couple years for that, and then she wants to have kids, and im not moving with kids under 5 years old. so who knows. for now were content here. id just like to get a house further outside of the city. i want a few acres so i can have some livestock and a decent little farm going.

thats true. i just love the hobby! are the weilii being found in new places yet? are they spreading? last i read about them, they were in just a handfull of places? also, how is the potency of weilii compared with cubes?

The Atlanta area is probably the shroomiest area in the southeastern United States.

You plan on staying in Florida for a while or is there anywhere else you have your eyes on?
yeah, see, i was the opposite. i rebelled young, after 16 my parents pretty much let me do what i wanted. drink, drugs, whatever. im 22 now, and ive pretty much partied myself out lol..... im not a huge drinker anymore, a little here or there, i dont like to get sloppy drunk anymore. dont do any hard drugs anymore, and ive even cut way back on smoking pot.
ohhhh ill probably be here for several years. me and the ms. would like to move further north one of these days. we both would be happy anywhere around tennessee, north carolina, that area. she really loves georgia, but i told her i cant get mushroom spores in georgia and theres NO way in hell thats happening south tenn. is fine by me. lol
but shes in nursing school, im about to start EMT and then firefighter training. weve both got a couple years for that, and then she wants to have kids, and im not moving with kids under 5 years old. so who knows. for now were content here. id just like to get a house further outside of the city. i want a few acres so i can have some livestock and a decent little farm going.
That's awesome man! I wish you good luck on all your future endeavors and don't go having to many kids
It's funny because you're all partied out and I JUST started partying really until I had to leave. Ah well. I've been a country boy all my life though and I want to see how life is in the big city. I'll come back to Mississippi when I want to retire or something lol

Lefty that wine recipe sounds fucking awesome I'm a pretty big drinker but not much of a wino. I love sweet wine and people always look at me like I'm a jackass if I ask for something sweet so I usually drink something else.
I don't know the first thing about brewing however how much yeast are you supposed to use and where the fuck do you get it?

They grow in the Atlanta metro area. Atlanta is the red dot and the weilii grow primarily in the circle.

if you like it sweet, try my recipe, i doubt you will be disapointed!
well for the 5 gallon recipe i use about a 1/4 cup. i buy it in bulk online, it comes in 1 lb packages. they also sell it in small packages at publix. i forget what isle....
if you want to try this out on a smaller scale(1gal.) first do 2 cans concentrate, 1 lb sugar and like 2-3 packets of yeast.

Wow that's dedication man. You work out alot huh? Yeah I'm fat but I've been working on losing weight and it's been going pretty good. Before I left Florida I'd lost 20 lbs but I'm sure I gained it back once I got home. EVERYTHING is fried in Mississippi..it's horrible (Plus we're the fattest state in the country...yummy) Funny enough I was always looking for friends who would help me out in that area and give me that extra push but those bastards were just as lazy as I was...they just were skinny. I think I should just start hanging out with people bigger than me so I'll be the small guy in the group...you know what...I like that idea lol
I walked 8 miles a few weeks ago..NOT a good idea...the pain...the pain....

yeah i guess, i stay up all night because if i sleep while shes working, i just lay there while she sleeps, and im one of those people who cant stand to be idle. this way, were on the same schedule. same thing saturday night. only i go to sleep around 3-4 sunday morning, i find if i do that, i can still sleep with her, and then im not dead tired come work monday.
haha yeah, that damned southern food will get ya. actually i think LA is the fattest state in the country.
lol... not only could i have partied with ya, i couldve helped you get in shape! and yeah, i work out quite a bit..... especially friday and saturday nights. every day at 6 when she leaves for work i go rollerblading, roughly 15 miles, come home do my workout, eat a protein packed meal, shower, plop my ass on here, and just about anytime i get up, whether its to use the bathroom, make some tea, or whatever, i do a little speed workout(pushups, handstand pushups, crunches, leg lifts, bridge, planks, chin/pull ups and others.) i have a chinup bar installed in my office doorway, i make a habit of doing some pull ups every time i walk through or by it. 15 at a time.
i also run monday, wednesday, saturday and sometimes sunday. 3-4 miles.
i workout a little....

Well they keep popping up in counties father north. Weilii are definitely in other places but they haven't been reported in all of them.

Yeah...a little...riggghhhhttttttt
I could NEVER do a pull up. Those things suck and I've never roller-bladed b4...just regular 4 wheels. Yeah you could've def got me in shape. The older I get though the more important my health is becoming and when I was working out regularly I started feeling GREAT! Like I had energy...it was AWESOME! Plus it's always better for people to say "Hey you've lost weight" instead of "Hey you're huge!"
And nah we actually got LA. You'll think being in Mississippi there would be alot of home cooking but most people live off of fast food. Like my dad had me go to McDonald's the other day to get him one of those sweet tea's and I felt DISGUSTING..it was horrible. I hate that place so much now and I don't want to be compared with all the other fat people going in and out of there lol.
I don't think I need that much protein right now lol...I'm not trying to get bigger. The time for being the big fat black (but oddly white) guy is over. One of my goals in life is to be able to run slow motion in the rain and for it to be sexy. lmao

Ps. George Jurgel has an MMA school pretty close to me. I went in there the other day for an open house these guys were fucking nuts haha. Rich Franklin was there too which was pretty cool even though he just got his ass handed to him.

well really anything will work. gallon mason jars, gallon glass jugs, old wine bottles, i save many of my empties for rebottling. ive got so many its ridiculous. and for the big brews i just use a 5gal. zephyr hills jug. you just have to be sure to saran wrap them good and put just enough holes to release pressure, but not enough that air flows back in.
*sigh* i was in tae kwon do and kickboxing for a few years, lettered in wrestling and went to states in HS. one of these days im going to get back into a dojo fulltime. right now i just train myself through books and videos. not nearly as good, but itll work until i can go train for real. im thinking about getting into gymnastics for a little while too before i do that, build my strength agility and stamina up really good before i start again.
p.s. do not use regular plastic bottles or jars. its not the same plastic as water jugs. glass is the best. the only reason i dont use 5gal. glass carboys instead of plastic is the price.

thats funny, my friends think im mexican due to my tan from work white black dudes are cool. no offense, but i wish all black people AND alot of white people were like you. lol.
well i dont know, i guess it all depends on where my health stands at 120. if you play your cards right your whole life, you can still be moving around and active at 110. i dont really care what state i am in at 120, if i make it there, that will be awesome. i dont care if all i can do is poop myself and read!
real fights suck, because generally there isnt enough warning to be prepared fully, no time to stretch, warm up or slowly acclimate your adrenaline. when i have been in real fights, i tend to get a little sloppy due to the adrenaline rush. not sloppy enough to lose though. ive lost two fights in my life, both were against about 5 people. being jumped sucks. fighting, i like. i won a handfull of tournaments when i was younger.
lol, its opposite with me. in a normal situation, you really wouldnt be able to tell what im capable of physically. im a pretty laid back guy though, it takes alot to push me to fight. ill take on a friendly fight any day of the week though. i love sparring.

Yea I was looking at wine making supplies and was wondering if all the carboys and hydrometers and other shit was really necessary just to make concentrate wine.
I guess need to read up on this more, but could I just use like a carlo rossi bottle or somethin to ferment in (I think those are 1 gallon)

nonsense. i have overrweight friends. either youre happy with who you are, or you make changes to yourself to get to where you want to be. friends are there to support and accept each other. if you want to be fat, be fat. if you want to get into shape, im more than willing to help. what i cant stand are the fatties who whine about their bodies, but do nothing to try and fix it. i also cant stand excessively obese people. being overweight is one thing, but severe obesity is another.
nah, i wouldnt kick anyones ass as motivation. id tell them how great they feel when they lose the weight and etc.
if you dont mind me asking, what is your age, weight and height?

Heh I know. I hate those people to. Just sit around and whine how unhappy they are with themselves and do nothing about it. I remember one of my friends and I were having this conversation after watching the 1200 lbs man (or something around that number) My friend was hilarious "HOw could someone get that big? Once you get to the point where you can't walk you should be like, hey, I have to do something" and I was defending the guy. We were high so this went on for a while lol.
Hmmm I told you my age earlier..you forgot already? How could you!!! lol nah I'm 22...6'2..and I weight...well....*sigh* Alot lol..I'll just pm you that part..can't put all my info out in public view you know

disturbed said: Yea I was looking at wine making supplies and was wondering if all the carboys and hydrometers and other shit was really necessary just to make concentrate wine.
I guess need to read up on this more, but could I just use like a carlo rossi bottle or somethin to ferment in (I think those are 1 gallon)
pbbbthhhhh...... you dont need all of that shit. ive even made real grape wine. those expensive tools make it nicer, but for now cheaper is better for me.
the only think i would suggest buying is an autopriming siphon. it will make the whole racking process alot easier and less likely to contaminate. but for a while i did it the old fashioned way...... hose, suck, siphon. lol
and yes those botles will work GREAT, i have quite a few of them for racking(second ferment). they are 3 liter bottles though. not quite a gallon.
also. if you are unhappy with the little bit of sludge left on the bottom of the second ferment, you can rack one more time, and adding a teaspoon or two of sugar to add some extra co2, pressure and carbonation. just dont forget, in the 3rd racking, it is absolutely important that you leave no more than 1/2" to 1" of space for air in the bottle. otherwise contamination is more likely. i suggest if youre going for a 3rd racking, to rack back into another 5gallon jug for the second racking, then split into smaller bottles for 3rd racking.

Damn, man. I am sorry to hear about your troubles. I wish you all the best.
That hooch you're making sounds decent. I've never tried using honey before. Good idea!
