I remember watching once and the final question they all had was asking which novel the line "Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven" came from, it made my day. I should read that book I always heard about it but haven't read it.

I have often thought of what I would bone up on if I were to try out for Jeopardy.

First on the list would be Geography, then probably the Presidents and their cabinets.

I'm pretty damn good at regular Jeopardy... the only reason I haven't tried out is because I'm afraid of the shame associated with not having any money at the end of double jeopardy.  I would never forgive myself if I was missing in final jeopardy.

That would be embarrassing. All your friends watching and shit.

I have to admit, I would only do fair. It would depend on the categories. With my luck I'd end up with Opera and some other obscure shit I don't know.

I'm pretty good with normal Geography but for Jeopardy would have to study things like bodies of water.

I had a teacher when I was in High School that was on Jeopardy it was on 4/20 2000 or 2001.  He told us all to make sure and smoke a bunch of pot before watching him.

Damn! I never had cool teachers like that!

Of course I went to a private Christian school so I guess it would have been almost impossible for a cool person to be one of the teachers.

we had a few teachers that smoked one I know was quite the drinker though I remember him having a black eye, probably a bar fight. there was one teacher there she was uptight and shit she went out with him and hated him after that my guess he was a drunk.

You'd have to read through Opera for Dummies or something before attempting Jeopardy.  Maybe a Coles Notes version of the Bible too.

In regular Jeopardy they don't get too in depth into any particular subject, you don't have to be an expert at anything, just know the main players.

:strokebeard:

If I were preparing to go on the show I'd watch the show for a year and read a little about every category that came up afterwards.  Fill all those holes.

I like the high school tourneys... I can get almost all of them.

But yeah, the Champions one is hard as hell sometimes. I'm all happy and excited if I get a 1000/2000 one!

I've got a lot of useless trivia in my head. I do pretty well at trivia games most times. Jeopardy is hit-n-miss. Depends on the categories. If something like astronomy or physical sciences comes up I'll run the category. But they usually throw in some shit like '19th century literature' and I'm fucked. I can answer about 30-40% of the questions on Jeopardy most days. Its definitely not your run-of-the-mill bonehead trivia for sure.

My background gives me an unfair advantage in that category also.  In the last 20 years I've forgotten more about the Bible then most people I meet have ever known.  Nowadays my Bible trivia is still good, but nothing like it was in my heyday!

I had Bible class every morning for 4 years. It was taught like a History book.

Not getting religious or nothing but it actually has some interesting stories in there.

-Sunday school from as early as I remember.
-Church youth activities (sometimes several days a week) all of my childhood.
-Early-bird seminary class every day of High School (before I went to my regular High School).
-Went on to become a full-time missionary for a couple years.
-Taught Sunday School to the 16-17 year old age group for a while after returning from full time missionary work.
....yeah, I know the Bible just a bit. :smirk:

And you are right, some of the stories in the Bible are great.  I learned to enjoy them even more when I quit looking through a religious prism and read them just for the entertainment value!

My bible class my senior year was my hardest class and I wasn't a slacker I took physics and honors chemistry, it was bullshit. I could do decently in a bible category but I don't have shit on to the summit haha.

You probably have me beat, but it's not really a competition is it?  Everyone wins who has some knowledge.  I don't go to church now but still think there's wisdom in the book.

I would also do pretty well in Literature.  I was always a bookworm and the school I went to pretty much only had the classics in their library.

I love classic literature. I'm looking for a book right now, got any suggestions?

Anything off the top of your head would be appreciated
