ive done my research on this mushroom and im excited to finally try one. i might be a newbie to uploading pics to this site but im no newbie to mushrooms. ive just never lived in a place where they grow in the wild before. in so. cal you either grow yourself or buy them. i chose to grow. but now that im in the PNW im looking forward to enjoying some wild ones. Thanks for your opinion though!

take ur mushrooms and put them in the oven on 170-220 and bake them tell they dry this converts the ibotenic acid into muscimol which is what u want makes them more potent to.

Just a heads up: if you're planning on making tea with the dried mushrooms, prepare for the worst tasting liquid you've ever put in your mouth. I found a couple A. Muscaria a few weeks ago and followed the directions for mushroom tea; I was excited to try it, and then WHAM - the taste of it is similar to vomit covered dog food, or... black licorice steeped in ass (sorry for being so profane, but those are the only things it can be compared to). The dried mushrooms themselves are surprisingly tasty, though; kind of like mushroom chips.

If you plan to dry them, get some desiccant and dry them that way.

bad advice
listen to the dude that told you to bake them. The heat helps to catalize the chemical reaction to convert the ibotenic acid into muscimol. Although drying without heat also converts ibotenic acid, it both takes longer to dry and doesn't convert as effeciently.
good luck

As far as taste goes, definitely. I'm (fairly) sure that the potency of the mushrooms won't change once they're already dried (the dried chips had more of an effect than the tea on me), but you may want to do a bit of research to make sure, first.
