i was thinking/hoping these are Amanita muscaria(Fly Agaric) they where growing in woodland near my home, what do you think?

Those are russula of some sort...theres no volva (cup) at the base.

there are lots of red russulas...heres a link to one

rusula, couldnt help further than that. i believe there are some edible, red, rusulas, so give google a try for a list

Red Russula are numerous and difficult to ID to species. But you're welcome to take a stab, though i'd say it is very difficult without the specimen in hand.
