heating a grow-space
    #7614776 - 11/09/07 11:28 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

i know that the temp for fruiting should be around 73 degrees. The current temp in my house is 62 degrees. Can i use a standard lightbulb to raise the temp in my growroom? (The lightbulb brings the temp to around 78 degrees) or is 62 an ok temp to fruit at?

Try a small space heater instead. I wouldn't really trust a lightbulb to heat my grow area. Too risky IMO.

Try Voranado!! They have a Thermostat controlled heater for about $99.. I bought one for my closet for incubation because the older one I was using was not keeping the ambient temp stable.. It works awesome. I set it 86 and it's always on point with a variance of no more than 1 degree plus or minus. I've got 12 jars right now in there THRIVING! Poked exactly one week ago and they are 70%.. I'm giving them one more whole week because I was planning on 3 total  GOOD TIMES!! Voronado friend! I swear by it..

Yeah I love using the closet... It's the best for bulk trays.. I didn't want to have big plastic bins all over my room :crazy2:

if anything I would use a small space heater if need be but I'd just let them be if you're confident they won't get any cooler...

I typically let my temperatures swing from 78(F) during warming point of the daylight lighting hours to about 68(F) during the coolest point of the nightime lighting hours. Mycelium follow a circadian cycle much the same way we do in terms of active and rest periods. By allowing the temperatures to fluctuate a little within a fairly controllable tolerance along with the lighting you help reinforce that circadian cycle to follow the same cycle as your lighting.

Just like babies, you want them to sleep through the night, lol...

Keep in mind that inoculating or whatever in front of a flow hood won't help your bad substrate, your bad inoculant, your bad sterile procedure, etc. etc. etc. It's not a +3 flowhood of magic, it's just a tool.
